My personal opinion is that IPL batting performances can not be taken seriously while looking to select a team for ODI's and Test Matches, but IPL bowling performances should be taken into consideration for same selections. Young bowlers like Rahul Sharma, Bhragav Bhatt, Iqbal Abdulla have done well in this IPL and selectors should follow their performances closely.

Murali Vijay became the greatest gift to Indian cricket after scoring a IPL 100 on a dead Chennai track. His next international T20 performance involved scoring 47 off 45 balls. He couldn't play well in Zimbabwe among all countries! And was dropped. He's good in tests and he should stick to those formats. Yusuf might become a T20 only player if he keeps failing the way Vijay did.

people who do well in FC may get picked for IPL and thus into the Indian squad if they kept up the performance. Players do get picked from FC into IPL anyways.. whoever plays well and deserves a spot in the team should get picked.. regardless of IPL or FC.. I am sure that is the case right now.. don't know why Gavaskar thinks if someone is getting picked from IPL then it translates to FC being ignored.

We are selecting teams for ODIs and T20s based on IPL India A tours and domestic ODI tournaments and that has proved highly successful . Similarly we have selected test teams based on Ranji trophy and India A tours and that has also proved highly successful . What exactly is Gavaskar is complaining about ? When has the selectors mixed IPL and Ranji performances for selections. Why blame selectors for something they have never done ?
