SachDan Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 So MI caused all this and CSK gets the flak? :hehe: Yeah it was the Mumbai management which instructed yesterday's match to be played on a 'side wicket' :giggle: Interesting how you didn't highlight that part. :winky: off-topic :--D
yoda Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Yeah it was the Mumbai management which instructed yesterday's match to be played on a 'side wicket' :giggle: Seems like their biatching is what caused the pitch change. Now it is going to come and bite their ass come playoff time. :hysterical:
ganeshran Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 Lets not convert this into a franchisee loyalty issue... If the strip was changed, it should have been done much before the game to allow the team to make selection and gameplan changes.
yoda Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 A BCCI pitch inspector visited Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur after Mumbai Indians captain Sachin Tendulkar criticised the strip there as "two-paced and difficult" after their IPL match against Rajasthan Royals on April 29. It was then ordered that the last two matches of Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur - on Monday against Chennai Super Kings and on May 11 against Royal Challengers Bangalore - would be played on a new strip. I am not sure when the change was ordered, it may not be as last-minute as we seem to believe and the reason clearly is due to the MI biatching.
yoda Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 http://cricket.zeenews.com/fullstory.aspx?nid=38199 Updated on Sunday, May 08, 2011, 15:28 The match will be played on a new strip after the pitch controversy generated by the remarks from Sachin Tendulkar, the skipper of Mumbai Indians who were restricted to 94 for eight here on April 29. Though the Mumbai Indians insisted that there was no formal complaint, a new strip was ordered for the remaining two matches at Sawai Man Singh Stadium after a visit by the pitch inspector. So they knew on Sunday night itself that the game will be played on a new pitch. Hence all the last minute change accusation by chewtiya Modi is just a cheap tactic by the run-away criminal.

So it wasnt a last minute change like Modi suggested, just an underhand tactic to throw some dirt on Srinivasan and IPL :hmmm:
Zap_Brannigan Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Lucky that SI India did not come up with a "a bookie called his mom who spoke to a certain jaipur player who fixed the pitch" story.
Blueraphael Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Really? :hysterical: Get your facts right mate! Yesterday after the match I was listening to Tom Moody (former KXIP coach) and Shishir Hattangadi on CNN-IBN and they both were saying it's the home team's right to choose on which surface to play. http://www.lords.org/laws-and-spirit/laws-of-cricket/laws/law-7-the-pitch,33,AR.html 3. Selection and preparation Before the match, the Ground Authority shall be responsible for the selection and preparation of the pitch. During the match, the umpires shall control its use and maintenance. There you go. Although, I dont see what all the fuss is about. The pitch was boucier and better for strokeplay. Isn't that what is called a 'good T20 pitch'. PLus, like I said before, 63 runs is too big a margin to blame anything but your own performance.
SachDan Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 http://www.lords.org/laws-and-spirit/laws-of-cricket/laws/law-7-the-pitch,33,AR.html 3. Selection and preparation Before the match, the Ground Authority shall be responsible for the selection and preparation of the pitch. During the match, the umpires shall control its use and maintenance. There you go. And it consists of ? :hmmmm2: So you are saying home team have no say in preparing wickets. Going by your logic spinning tracks in the sub-continent happens by chance not intentional..same for the bouncy wickets of SAF, seaming wickets of ENG etc. Nice!
Blueraphael Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 The Ground Authority does not comprise the teams. the curator decides the surface. IF not, how do you explain THAT match in Nagpur???????
SachDan Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 The Ground Authority does not comprise the teams. the curator decides the surface. IF not' date= how do you explain THAT match in Nagpur??????? Correct but these curators are appointed by respective cricket associations and you expect them to prepare strips which suits the opposition team?
asterix Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Look. Whichever pitch was selected to play, it was same for both the teams. So Rajasthan were rightly stufffed as CSK was much better team. If it would've been the regular pitch, RR would've still got stuffed. However the RR team had huge lot's of success by playing on the regular pitch. That's why Jaipur has been called the RR's fortress. It's because the kind of bowlers RR has/had, are/were more adapted to play on that surface. There's no doubt about that the pitch has 2 paced behaviour. And RR team excelled on it. Their game plane has been to put the opposition to bat and try to get them @150 score or less and then chase down the score. However the *****ing by Warne and Modi was to do with selection of this "side strip" out of all the "other" pitches available. This side strip makes one boundary bit shorter and (what was evident yesterday), had true bounce so that batsmen can hit through the line. That shorter boundary also screwed up Warne's field placings (which was atrocious yesterday) and quite a lot of boundaries were given easily. The Curator decides, which strip to be used. On Sunday, everybody knew that the regular strip will not be used. However Warne and co were shocked to see the 'side' strip being used, which was never used earlier in many editions of IPL. The RR bowlers themselves didn't knew how to bowl on that pitch. So in that sense they were caught with their pants down.. Warne has not *****ed about the pitch (although you can sense his frustration) but he left it for the media to speculate what had happened as he doesn't wants to be involved in the controversy (if at all there's any). http://www.espncricinfo.com/indian-premier-league-2011/content/current/video_audio/514454.html IMO, RR has always been a mediocre team, which has used their home conditions to win majority of their matches. Yesterday when the conditions were made even, they're found out. As an MI fan, I'm dissappointed that MI didn't got the chance to play on this "side" strip..Any way, next time.
vvvslaxman Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Tendulkar's pitch remarks piques Warne This is the real reason
saneindian Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Wonder what that RCA secretary, who was tweeting about Sachin's comments about the Jaipur pitch, has to say on Warne b*tching about the pitch change.
vvvslaxman Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Wonder what that RCA secretary' date=' who was tweeting about Sachin's comments about the Jaipur pitch, has to say on Warne b*tching about the pitch change.[/quote'] Karma :cantstop:
achilles Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Wonder what that RCA secretary' date=' who was tweeting about Sachin's comments about the Jaipur pitch, has to say on Warne b*tching about the pitch change.[/quote'] All due respect mate, MI wasn't forced to play on a pitch. Imagine such a thing happening at the MI home game.
saneindian Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 All due respect mate' date=' MI wasn't forced to play on a pitch. Imagine such a thing happening at the MI home game.[/quote'] How do you know MI gets to play on the pitch they want to? Sudhir Naik (Wankhede curator) would never ever consider requests from home teams for a particular type of pitch. Maybe MI have just been very good at home irrespective of the pitches and hence unlike Warne and RR, they haven't moaned about it.
Ram Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 I am beginning to slowly understand why Shane Warne, despite widely acknowledged as being as one of the best tacticians in cricket, was never made captain of the Aussie team. At the very least, he comes as someone who is opportunistic sniper whose default reaction is to look for scapegoats. I can understand that, as the captain of the Royals, he has absolutely EVERY reason to be peeved that they didn’t have control on choosing which pitch was going used for this match. But repeated manner in which he bought that subject up in the post-match press conference, AGAIN and AGAIN, was revealing. The irony is, from a T20 perspective, it was one of the better pitches to be laid at Japiur – it was flat and full of runs. So it isn’t like they got a pitch with 3 inches of grass and Dale Steyn blew them away or anything. I was listening to his comments during the toss and even then, his laundry list of excuses about the pitch and the short boundary began. By then, he had probably already realized that Rajasthan’s IPL 4 campaign was coming to an end and figured that he better salvage at least some of his reputation. He blamed Sachin and the Mumbai Indians for whining when they were bowled out for 94 in Jaipur, despite doing the EXACT same thing only days ago when they lost against KKR in Kolkata. That shows there’s no real principle behind any of his words or actions and he can flip back and forth between positions in a minute. And if you look at all the other past incidents like his suspension for suspected drug abuse, the provocative SMS-es to a female even while being married, his links with bookies, the repeated deragatory references about John Buchanan while being on air.. It all sort of adds up.
