Each team will contain 4 overseas players. Though the format looks sound and the idea appealing, I think the SL board are been taken for a ride by this shady Somerset Entertainment group based in Singapore using the classic "dog and the bone" technique by blinding the owner with illusion and playing to their fantasies. SLC should follow the example of NZ or SA where only 2 overseas are allowed who do not cost a fortune and stick with current domestic teams. The current idea will bankrupt the board if they can't afford to play the overseas players, as it is the board is already in financial difficulties.

Each team will contain 4 overseas players. You are rite, the salary is laughable, and hence even if the likes of Pollard or Afridi play they won't be motivated to really perform. Hence the SLC should look at the 2nd or 3rd tier of international players, rather than try to match IPL or Big Bash in glamour stakes.

Pollard SLPL Salary: $30,000. @ 8 matches $3750 per match Hence SLC are walking into illusion thinking top players will be attracted...though I still think it will be successful at domestic level, if their partners Somerset Entertainment do not turn out to be Vampires trying to suck money out of naivety of SLC.

I think IPL auction of players means it goes to the players. BCCI cant have their cut from it. BCCI make much more though from TV rights, franchise rights etc etc...etc etc.

As 10% of any foreign players' salary must go to his respective cricket board hence making it very lucrative for the likes of Australia, SL, and SA.
ganeshran Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 ^ Foriegn player 's 10% cut is not deducted from their salary. BCCI pays it to the boards from its own pocket as royalty. Players get their full 100% salary only if their teams reach the Champions league, else 20% is deducted
