Why is communism archaic/ bad? Communism speaks of equitable wealth distribution and overall social equality. That theory, if applied properly can wipe off half of our major national problems. In India it has'nt been "applied properly".

Because Communism is ANTI RELIGION. Socialism is Communism minus 'Hate For Religion'. Moreover Indian Communists are strictly anti-India.

That can't be true. Kerala is a near 100% literate state. There has to be something in their policies that appeal to people there to vote in left parties. Its never so simplistic. They might be against a lot of stuff that me and you value, but I really don't think that they would be anti Indian. They wouldn't be in power for so long in WB & Kerala. Defies conventional wisdom.

They aren't just anti India. That would be the understatement of the millennium. They hate India to such a large degree that you and I can't fathom. Remember Mani Shankar Aiyar. He was in CPM before joining Congress.When Indians were donating money and jewellery - even sweaters - to sustain India's fight against the Chinese in 1962, Mani Shankar Aiyar, as secretary of the Cambridge unit of Communist party, was busy collecting funds for Chinese soldiers. Google this incident if you don't believe me. I don't know much about Kerela politics but I have lived long enough in WB to observe people's mindsets over there. Every Bengali prides him/herself to be an intellectual no matter how big a dumbass that person is. They think that Communist ideology is cool,intellectually stimulating etc etc. I had many Bengali friends who had absolutely no idea of communism and yet were die hard fanatics of CPM in class 8.:omg:. At that time I had no idea of politics. 1 of those friends SMSed me today that now Bengal will be run by fools for the first time in the last 45 years. I mean what the heck is wrong with these people. CPM screwed Bengal for 40+ years, changed the number 1 state in the 50s to the worst state in India, stopped growth, killed its own people and what not. Thank god Bengal has been ridden of this trash. Didi may be bad but can't do worse than CPM. And tell you what,Didi is incorruptible.

I personally find it very difficult to believe that a person of Mani Shankar Iyer's stature and intelligence and with years of dedicated public service under his belt be anti Indian. I will look it up on google. What you have said are instances of communists or those who want to be communists who have gone astray. I was more interested in knowing about why the ideology was not the right one for India. Also, Outsider called it archaic, which I found odd. Simply because it is a rather recent development. In the last 100-200 years I think. Should Capitalism, Hinduism, Islam, Christianity be termed archaic if Communism is archaic? All these philosophies/religions/ideologies predate Communism.

I think he meant that Left is pretty much out of sync with the reality and with whats happening now. They're still living in the past while other parties which were established well before Left, have tried to change with time.
