ViruRulez Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 GREATER NOIDA: UP police have taken Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Digvijay Singh and Rita Bahuguna under preventive custody. "Rahul Gandhi has been arrested under Sec 151 CrPC and will be presented before a Sub-Divisional Magistrate tomorrow," Inspector General of Police (Meerut Range) Rajnikant Mishra said. Gandhi was taken away from the dharna site in Bhatta Parsaul Village in a grey Tata Safari to an undisclosed location. The Amethi MP smiled to the large battery of media before getting into the vehicle along with AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh and Firozabad MP Raj Babbar. Taking on Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati, Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday joined the land war, pledging full support to farmers fighting against acquisition and promising not to desert them till their demands are met. Sneaking into Bhatta Parsaul village, the epicentre of the agitation in western Uttar Pradesh, in the wee hours riding pillion on a motorcyle, he sat with the agitating farmers throughout the day in scorching heat to emphathise with their cause and women who lost their men. "I feel ashamed to call myself Indian after seeing what has happened here. The (state) government here has unleashed atrocities on its own people," the Congress general secretary told the farmers. Even as he sat on a dharna, a war of words erupted, with BJP terming it as a "drama" and wanting to know why the UPA government was still not acting on his earlier promise of bringing Land Acquisition Bill in Parliament. The Congress, on its part, said it was keen to get on early passage of the bill in Parliament. Gandhi, who sat with the farmers for over 12 hours, said he associated with them as they were demanding their "right" and there was "nothing wrong" in it. "I want to tell you that I am with you till your demands are met. Till your work is not done, the Congress party will not desert you," he said to a thunderous applause from the gathering which shouted slogans hailing him. He said an official had told him that the agitation was like "naxalism" but he had found that the farmers were peacefully making their demands. Gandhi demanded a judicial inquiry into the exchange of fire on Saturday last between farmers and police in which two farmers and two policemen were killed. Earlier, after reaching the village at 4am along with party colleague Digvijay Singh, he heard the farmers and had tea with them. He also visited various hamlets. SDM Vishal Singh met Rahul and asked him to end the dharna in view of the potential security risk to him in view of the situation in the area. Vishal Singh also expressed inability to provide security as he had come without intimation. But the young Congress leader told the official that unless their demands are met he will not leave the village. The demands also included release of detained farmers. Digvijay Singh said till a judicial inquiry submitted a report no action should be taken against the farmers in respect of FIRs lodged against them. He also demanded that all arrested farmers be released and that there should not be any forcible land acquisition. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/noida/Farmers-stir-Rahul-Gandhi-arrested-by-UP-police/articleshow/8250862.cms Not surprising and even more politics will be played in the last few days. To be fair enough, in the Greater Noida case I support Mayawati to an extent. She took a few steps for development and tried to build India's best planned quality city in Greater Noida but everybody seems to be playing politics on this issue from Rahul to Kangress to BJP to Mulayam and Amar and Nitish etc. Yaar is it necessary for political parties to take out mileage from each situation. I am sometimes very worried about the future of the nation in the way in which Indian politics is going. Politics has become even dirtier than before and as I have always said a new party which does not play votebank politics and is concerned only about the nation and its development needs to emerge soon.
SachDan Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 @fakingnews Rahul Gandhi said he was ashamed to be an Indian, and everyone started looking at Digvijay Singh, and everyone agreed. :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

jonas10 Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Rahul Gandhi is a bloody dog. I wouldnt hire this guy to sweep my floor and he would be nothing without his name. Shame on the stupid Indians that want this guy to be prime minister simply based on his family. Next election should decide if India is to be a democracy with politicians selected on merit or a Monarchy with no accountability. Please note I hate 90% of other politicians as well as the fat cow he has his problem with! :finger:

I am one of the biggest haters of Mayawati and her worst critics but in this case the other political parties are doing wrong by politicizing the issue. This is happening all over again and this is not the only issue. It happened in Orissa where all political parties started opposing as soon as Naveen Patnaik took few steps for development. It happened in Assam where every political party has been opposing the MegaDam even though it would have supplied electricity to almost half of North and Eastern India from this dam alone. It happened with Jaitapur where Shiv Sena and other opposition is trying to politicize the nuclear power plan issue. It happened in West Bengal by virtue of Mamata for which Tata had to remove all its factories from Bengal and Nano got delayed. Now it is happening in Greater Noida where everybody is trying to oppose even though it was developmental step that was taken to build perhaps India's best planned city. Politicians are now opposing and playing politics just for their own gains instead of looking at the development of the nation. I am not sure why everyone is opposing Maya just for the sake of it in this case. BTW she has probably arrested a future PM and that might have consequences in the future but Rahul or any other politician or party was not in the right in this case and everybody were trying to gain political mileage and nothing else.

Most of the people in India (read: the common man) can read through all that drama and acting this guy does like going to dalits houses, breaching his security cordon etc. He simply is not good enough to be PM.

The various political parties opposing this are not against development. What they are opposing is the way land is being acquired form the farmers - in a very large majority of the cases like this, the land is acquired from the farmers forcefully and they are either not given any compensation or the compensation they receive is very inadequate. That is the main issue here methinks.
DomainK Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Now Rahul can say the dialog: "Maya, teri to mein palat dunga kaya!"
