BCCI to oppose DRS recommendation Devendra Pandey Fri May 13 2011 The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to remain steadfast in its longstanding opposition of the Decision Review System (DRS) by rejecting the ICC cricket committee's proposal to use the system for all international matches. Sources in the Indian board confirmed on Thursday that the BCCI was against having the DRS for their international fixtures, a stand that they maintained over the last couple of years. “The players don't want it and they have informed us about it a long time back when the DRS came into existence. The system is not complete and it was exposed during the World Cup,†said a top BCCI official. Ironically, the Indians along with the Sri Lankans were the first guinea pigs of the review system during the 2008 Test series in the Emerald Isle. The visitors ended up having a torrid time with it, getting only one decision reversed successfully. Ever since, the board and the players have been reluctant to use the referral method. Meanwhile, it is almost certain that despite the ICC cricket committee's recommendation, there will be no DRS during India's upcoming tour to the West Indies. “We will try to convince the West Indies Cricket board to not have the DRS during the tour,†a BCCI source said. The DRS has been used intermittently in Test matches since 2009 — 31 Tests in this period to be precise. But having used the review system during the recently concluded World Cup, the ICC cricket committee had recommended that referrals be brought into play for the limited-over formats too but with a slight difference — wherein teams would have only one unsuccessful review per innings.

Whole world has no problem with DRS, I can't understand why BCCI and players dont want it. ICC should ignore BCCI and go ahead with the recommendation.

I agree, they are the ruling body of the game, and if they want something implemented across the board then they should do it without worrying about what individual boards may think. It's a bit ridiculous that each home board can decide whether they would like it or not. It should either be used for every series or for none.

To every one here.... Because its expensive piece of kit ($56K dollars per day usage). Hot spots costs just $6K BCCI will be biggest customer to the kit because of IPL and number of home games india plays. Its British kit with Sony's support. British media is supporting it. No one else

What if other boards got huge discounts just to make sure BCCI buys this kit which is no better than host spots.

So Buy a Sukhoi for travilling to my office. Dude $56K per day is huge if its supposed to be implemented in India. Aleem Dar has consitently given correct decision. It will be cheaper to clone Alleem Dar than buy this. Its all economics.

Overall UDRS is not bad. BCCI should get the 2.5 m rule rectified and then accept it. It is better than the umpiring blunders that we normally face anyways.

On this I am with ICC. Incase the BCCI rejects it completely then I hope ICC forcefully implements it though after rectification of the 2.5 m rule. This opposing is making any sense now and is becoming ridiculous. It is not that much of a demon as it is made out to be by BCCI. The umpires like De Silvas are a lot bigger demons.

The cost to use the UDRS certainly runs very high - approximately $56' date='000 per match day (close to Rs 25 lakh). However, [i']the Indian board is reluctant to use the system not because of the expenditure involved but simply because they're not convinced that it is 100% foolproof. "We are not convinced about the UDRS and whether the system is foolproof. We discussed with the ICC too in the last meeting. It is the judgment of one (system) against the other (the umpire). Take the case of a leg before decision. The bounce on a cricket pitch always varies. It is not always the same. Similarly, in case there's a spinner on, the spin may vary, even the pace of the ball. We are not convinced if the UDRS can take all of this into account," BCCI president Shashank Manohar told TOI.

ICC is allready saying they will get discount.... Find below from the link.
