A bowler with a 5 for in his previous test match and instrumental in winning the one before that is a toss up?
If it had been any other bowler I would have him in the team but with Sreesanth you are never sure what you will get. Munaf has improved a lot and will be an ideal bowler in the seaming Eng conditions. He can keep the ball on or around off and let the pitch do the rest. Zaheer is an automatic choice. Ishant is a good bowler to have in Tests as he can bowl just short of length and is back to bowling in 140s. I am intrigued by Praveen Kumar as he always swings the ball and if the conditions are anything close to what they were when Pak toured Eng he would get the ball to talk.

^ I just hope our selectors understand the difference between circus and test matches.
I think this might be the time to give a chance to someone like Praveen Kumar and to see what Munaf can do in Tests.

He is not reliable even in tests. He bowled some rubbish in capetown test second innings and his last tour of England, that was awful. I myself was embaraced with his bowling and his attitude, over the top, he recently ha some heated arguments with Mahela Jaywardhne on the field which was shown on TV.

Praveen KUmar is injured. He didnt even play yesterday's match and he is picked for WI tour.
Didn't he just return from injury? I hope that he didn't rush back before he was supposed to.

He's not injured. I heard on the news that he was sick and that's why wasn't picked.
I saw him holding his elbow while bowling and throwing with pain in previous matches quite a few times. I think he is playing with pain killers. His same injury of elbow is not healed completely or it has come up again.

Hopefully he will be fit in time for Eng tour or we go back to Sreesanth :--D

Sreeshanth' date=' not again:(([/quote'] To be fair to Sreesanth he has been pretty good in Tests. But I would love to see how PK does in Eng. He wouldn't play Tests anywhere coz his strength is swing which he gets with the new ball but once the shine goes off the ball he's cannon fodder due to lack of speed and variety. But In Eng the ball swings nearly the whole day (at least it did when Pakis toured Eng last year) which would suit PK perfectly.

With Sreesanth, you just about lose your patience when he produces a ball like that to Kallis or the one to Prince. I honestly don't know whether to make him Zak's permanent new ball partner or chuck him out for good.

Sreeshanth is fairly inconsistent. You do not know what kind of Sreeshanth would take the field on any given day and he is a headache for the captain too. Look what he did in this IPL with Kocchi captain and coach. He is a maniac. He thinks there is no better bowler than him in the world. I fear he has ability of repeating his performance of England 2006 this year too if he is picked. That was one of best bowling display i have ever seen from a fast bowler he did in England tour 2006.:((

This is interesting Dhoni eyed 2nd honeymoon, Board said rest! http://sports.ndtv.com/cricket/news/item/173479-dhoni-eyed-2nd-honeymoon-board-said-rest The national selection committee took a last-minute decision to rest captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for the five-match ODI series in the West Indies. It is learnt that Dhoni had not requested for a break, and was eying a second honeymoon of sorts with wife Sakshi, in the Caribbean. It is learnt that Dhoni was keen on playing three ODIs, before handing the gloves to Parthiv Patel. "None of the senior players wrote to us or requested for leave. We realised that there are seven tough Tests (against West Indies and England) in the next three months. It's important for all our senior players to be in top fitness," chairman of selectors, Krishnamachari Srikkanth told MiD DAY. "Zaheer, Tendulkar and Dhoni will be available for the Tests. Sehwag's availability is subject to fitness," he said, before adding: "The rest of the squad picked itself. Don't forget, this is a World Champion side." As expected, Subramaniam Badrinath and Rohit Sharma came into the side for Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag; Ishant Sharma for S Sreesanth, while Amit Mishra was recalled to the ODI squad. Vinay Kumar and Praveen Kumar were also named in the squad for one-off T20 and five ODIs. It's unlikely that Saha will get a game with Parthiv expected to open the batting alongside Gautam Gambhir. The decision to leave out Murali Vijay mainly came after his poor performance in South Africa. "He was found wanting in South Africa (during the ODIs). We felt it's a better option to have Parthiv since he's an opener," said a selector. Sreesanth and Piyush Chawla were dropped for a poor World Cup showing.

This is just hearsay and speculation by media. Very bad.. :headshake:

Decent squad. The way WI has been playing, I think they will give a very tough time to this team.Only Gambhir, Kholi and Yuvraj look threating in batting. Going to be an open series.

WI are not playing particularly good cricket at the moment. Its just that their current opposition (Pak) is so poor that you get the impression that they're actually playing well. This Indian team will win the ODI series at least by a margin of 4-1.
