Bopara made his money in previous editions of IPL. He's warmed many IPL team benches in many matches in the past. He sincerely wanted to get in the Test team when he realised that Colly's place is vacant. Wait for his next course of action in the next editions of IPL.

This isnt the colonial world where all the angrez are super rich and we asians are begging for scraps. The English players are just as desperate to make money as the rest of the world.

He has all the technical skills needed to be a top batsman and will for sure score thousands and thousands of runs each county season, but mentally he is just not cut out for test cricket and will never make it there.
