Reckon he's going to be the biggest threat to us this summer, even more than Anderson. Gets good bounce because of his height and bowls a very accurate line. Reasonable pace as well though he's not an out and out fast bowler. Its that bounce which makes him so awkward to face. 35 wickets at 25 from seven Tests so far, none of them against minnows.

I agree with the OP. Bowled well even in '07. He should have played a lot more but too much was made about the fact that he was "soft" and didn't have the attitude. Warne said when he was at Hampshire that Tremlett had the ability to be the best bowler in the world.

Yep they were abysmal today no matter how good the bowling. But it was Tremlett's two early wickets which put some early doubts...and then got Mahela when they were just starting to recover

I have said many times before that he will be the one to cause the most trouble to our batsmen. If we play Raina or Yuvi then both of them will be sitting ducks for Tremlett.

The experience of having payed Morkel on SA pitches should help our batsmen. He is very much like Morkel perhaps a few clicks slower than him. But yeah he will be a real threat especially if given the new ball. Did very well against us on the last tour as well and then disappeared for the last 4 years. He has been injury prone and normally breaks down after every full series. So it will be interesting to see how England manage his work load this summer.

I dont think Chris goes for full pace all the time, when he takes a wicket the next few balls to the batsman are always high 80's. Suspect on tracks not offering any assistance Tremlett can up the pace, although Tremlett finds assistance on most surfaces unlike Stuart Broad.

In fact, he was consistenty hitting 90 mph+ all through the India series. But after floundering against him in the first test, we did find a way to handle him. Will do so with Chris as well.

And Tremlett's history so far Test series vs India - great start, Out with an injury after the series Test series vs Australia- WOnderful bowling, Out with an injury and missed the WC Given his fragile body and his freuqent injury breakdowns, it will be a surprise to see him play all 7 tests of the summer.

I really rate Tremlett, he will cause India a lot of problems with his steep bounce and could be a big player for England over the next 4-5 years. However, i also really rate Morkel and think that his figures in international cricket do not do his talent or bowling displays justice (much like Flintoff). He bowled some really hostile spells against India and beat the bat on a number of occasions. He took a couple of 1-70+'s in that series when he could have had 4 or 5 wickets in the same spell.

Threat ? Naa, we have played him well in the past (IIRC 2007 series in England, we murdered him).
