julianlev Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 This piece shares my exact opinion on Kallis - Link: http://www.foxsports.com.au/cricket/kallis-has-stats-but-doesnt-rate/story-e6frf3g3-1111118261325 I hesitate to think that a "flat-track bully" could reach a double hundred against India but then, this is an Australian opinion relations between us and them have never been great
Javier Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 I think since 90's, the yardstick for measuring better batsman has been comparisons with SRT. so: > Mid 90's = Brian Lara > Early 2000 = Padosi Aaloo (Inzi) > Mid Noughties = Ponting > Late Naughties = Kallis. So at this moment, we can say, Kallis is better than Ponting, but 3 years ago Ponting was better than Kallis. Hahaha Mate . There was never a serious comparison between SRT and Aloo . Rest of the other three comparisons find support from fans of neutral countries whereas SRT-Aloo comparison was an exclusive wet dream of Pak fans only , this belief is still very strong among many Pak fans and greats like Imran khan who think that Inzamam was Greatest Match Winner ever . Pressure Cooker Player and probably the best player of Phast Bowling :hysterical:
ViruRulez Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Though not a great fan of Aussies but it has to be Ponting as a batsman. And Kallis as a cricketer/allrounder. Ponting has won Aussie a lot more matches than Kallis has done. However, Kallis is better than Ponting as a batsman too but only in current form as :punter: is out of form
Vijay.Sharma Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 fuqq I just typed in a lot and something happened...grrrr Anyway, Pawning any day is greater than Kallis in my book. Players like Kallis, Dravid, etc will gain reputation when the generation of ppl who watched them play pass away. Their recognition will be thru numbers not their batting abilities. Same case with Barrington. Back in the 50s and 60s it'd be blasphemous to suggest Barrington was better than Hammond, Hobbs, Hutton. Well statistically (in my virtuoso project) Barrington is in deed better than them and even with plain stats he is ahead of the other 3 I think. Dravid, Kallis, and Chanders are today's Barrington. Whereas Pawning is closer to Lara although not Lara. I can bet my life on Barrington, Chanders, Dravid, and Kallis being able to put a crying baby to sleep....every fuqqing time. And I can also bet my life on Lax, Lara, and Pawning making the baby cry for a bat and won't stop until you get him one. The kinda guy I am, I'd prefer buying the bat for the kid.
Vijay.Sharma Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Kallis had incredible last two years which coincidentally matched with Ponting's lack of form during that period. But Kallis is more like Dravid very underrated.Underrated or overrated? I think Rahul is given a little too much credit...possibly because he was the only sturdy batsman in a country that prided itself on stroke makers (o ya, even Gavva was a stroke makers but had to forcibly change coz of the fragility of the Indian line up). If Lax was allowed to bat at his favored position of #3 I have no doubt he would have scored at least 5 more cents than Rahul and that too against the better attacks.
Blue-no1 Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Pawning>>Jack***** Kallis Kallis is a selfish player and he puts too much pressure on other batsman around him by batting slow (even in tests), the bowlers do not lose hope when Kallis is around. Pawning on the other hand does not allow bowler to get on top even if the team loses 2-3 wickets quickly. However, I believe Kallis will go Ponting way in a year.. lose his form and struggle to find his place in SA team.
Trichromatic Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 12.6 Kallis to Ponting, OUT, bowled him! Kallis has produced a ripping ball. RT Ponting b Kallis 4 (3b 1x4 0x6) SR: 133.33

Deleted_User_1 Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Ponting is gone, has been for a while. Now is a utter and complete joke. The hijra will soon be there if he does not call it quits!!! Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
akshayxyz Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 He must be praying for a series against India.. then he is all set for another year...or at least can retire on a high.
