Fontaine Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 I dont care if its bowling or batting led as long as the victories come.. but we do need to groom successors to Zaheer Khan... I think we already have a guy that should be given a real chance now in Munaf Patel. People are constantly underestimating him when all he's done over the past year is become of the most accurate bowlers in the game today. He's quietly developed two extremely good stock deliveries that work even on flat slow pitches. The one that pitches on off stump and just seams away to beat the bat/catch the edge and then the one that keeps straight. He does a very good job of hitting the deck to get good bounce on even low tracks and ofcourse has that slower delivery plus the cutter that Razzaq will still have nightmares about for years to come. And he's done all of this bowling on dead tracks in the subcontinent over the past year. Put him on a pitch with a bit of green and watch him seam the ball all over the place. He's excellent insurance to have in case Ishant doesn't develop because they have similar skills. You don't hear this guy giving interviews every few weeks about his comeback, praising god, injuries etc etc like you do with Pathan/Sree. All this guy does is focus on his bowling and gets the job done.
Temujin Khaghan Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 pakistani bowling attack is like russia in cold war. they keep saying "if we get up we iz tiger, if we get up we iz tiger". once they get up, everyone makes them sit in the corner :))
Midfielder Posted June 24, 2011 Author Posted June 24, 2011 The second string Indian attack performed better than Pakistan in the first test.
Yoda-esque Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Its true..their bowlers are a bit hyped up. Even in the late 90s (1999-2000) specifically, they were supposed to have the best bowling lineup with Shoaid,Waqar,Wasim, saqlain and Razzaq. But somehow they dont work well as a pack. BTW watch Sachin's ODI innings at Hobart in 2000 against this attack.I think he made 93 or 94..It was just amazing
Karan114 Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 The second string Indian attack performed better than Pakistan in the first test. Indeed it did, and Praveen Kumar on Test debut took as many wickets as the Pakistani pace attack managed in the entire series against the West Indies!

I just hope he can get his seam position sorted which is all over the place these days (He's still a good bowler despite that). Ever since the SA ODI series, he has been quality and has shown a willingness to improve.

Sachinism Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Since when did Pakistani's start naming their kids after our cricketers?? (Spelling error can be put down to not being able to spell)

Zero_Unit Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 ^ so what you are saying is that a person with a disability is not allowed to play interrnational cricket (in this case we are talking bout Aktar). He didn;t make his arm into that form, he was born with it. You don't have the right to tell him that just cause his arm is not like mine or yours. Not to mention he is not even using any mechanical part in his body. He bowls like any other bowler except his body allows him to extend his elbow a more then any normal person. I find it unfair to judge people on what they should/should not do due to the way they are born.
singhprakash72 Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 I wouldn't get too overboard with India's bowling performance in the 1st test vs WI, but the key to any formidable team's bowling attack was CONSISTENCY. India has shown some level of consistency in last 3-4 yrs. Another point which separates great bowling attack from ordinary one is bench-strength, this if India can develop with 5-6 fast Bowlers and 4 good spinners. Lets accept the fact the Zaheer will not be able to play ALL the test matches in next 2-3 yrs and every opposition will not be as fragile as present WI team.
mahesh_g Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Take out Ajmal, Pakistan bowling is crap. period. Gul and wahab are very overrated. Asif and Amir were decent but both are banned due to their stupid mistakes. Current pakistani bowling lineup is nothing special. Ajmal is doing well tho. but apart from that they are very average. like I said, if you take out ajmal, they are as bad as bangla or nz or sl.
