It's pure consumer power working there. Google translation learns languages by scanning the net for those languages. It does not know whether "Suresh Raina" is a name or a phrase. Since it has seen "Sachin Tendulkar" and "God" together in many places and Suresh Raina and SRT's name have been mentioned together in many places, it is simply translating "Suresh Raina" to "Sachin Tendulkar" To make it clearer, it first translates what it understands clearly - "Is God". Then it looks for that part that it does not understand - "Suresh Raina". The phrase "Suresh Raina" leads it to rely more on cricket related articles to look for a translation. Now since it has seen "Sachin Tendulkar is God" in many places all over the internet, it assumes that the most accurate translation for "Suresh Raina" would be "Sachin Tendulkar". However, you take away "Is God" and it can not find a proper translation for Suresh Raina anymore and leaves it as it as hoping that it's a name of a person or something else. Basically, Tendulkar devotees have hypnotized the internet into believing in what they believe purely by repeating it again and again.

Then how would you explain 1) Suresh Raina is genius or suresh raina is deity translating to Sachin Tendulkar is genius or deity. I dont think anyone would use the phrase SRT is deity. 2) Why none of other cricketer is getting translated this way. For e.g Type Sourav Ganguly is god or Virat Kohli is god, it translate back correctly. 3) Try any other languages with same sentense, it translate back correctly. Replace the name SUresh Raina with any other names, it works correctly.

Tough to say why the translation engine thinks that "Sachin Tendulkar" is the correct translation for "Suresh Raina", but that is the way the engine works. Actually, it does a very good job of translation. But quite frequently, it gives strange returns like these.
