nonsense, please consider the context. :headshake: Played a match winning innings in the T20i game. And so far played only two ODIs, where in one he was run-out. Jeez, give him a break...judge after the series.

Yes, that's fair. Deserves the rest of the ODI series to show what he can do. That said, a bit concerning how limited he has looked at times.

I wonder if he will make the test team. 2 out of Kohli/Badri/Raina will play. I'm guessing (and hoping) that Kohli is a certainty so it's down to Raina and Badri. Today was such a good opportunity since the team wasn't in a great position.

Needs a score in the last two ODIs, I imagine. I'm not a fan of Raina in Test matches but he was in a first choice Indian side two Tests ago so hard to see Badri pushing him out if he fails in the next two games.

Badri gets stuck in an ODI innings, doesnt rotate strike much and this has been his problem. But he should be given fair chance to either fail or succeed,he deserves it.And this series was going to be his make or break series but the tour has been a disappointment so far.

Hes playing the wrong format . Serves no purpose to play a 29 year old in ODI imo . Hes good enough to fillin for one of our seniors for a few years , till some of our youngsters get enough test cricket experience

A thread after he got run out? He is a slow starter, but accelerates once set. Some times you also need a shade of luck to go your way to help you build a longer innings which hasn't happened in his case.

Will have to score in the next 2 ODIs to have any hopes of playing in the tests. And I sincerely hope he does. Somehow, I feel he is putting too much pressure on himself as if taking every innings as his last chance. Can happen to anyone who has struggled so hard to earn that spot. Someone in the team management needs to talk to him and assure him of his place and help him feel relaxed.

This love affair with youth is the future borders on ageism, instead of picking players on merit. On that context if the Yuvi hadn't picked for the World Cup, then would he be too old at 29 to be picked now? Badrinath has merited to be picked for India, and in terms of youth, he is much fitter and better fielder than some of the other chubby pies (Mishra) and daddy long legs (Munaf). Lest you forget, Michael Hussey made his ODI debut at 29. And at 36 he is still considered integral to Australia's future. As long as body is willing in the next 3-4 yours I say give Badri a decent run of games in both ODIs and Tests.

I feel it is more of mental than his ability for Badri. Whenever I see him bat for India, he looks tensed, unable to rotate strike, can't score plying straight. I'm sure he is much better than this with all those huge scores in domestic. Even he got run out yesterday as he desperately wanted to get off strike when there was no run at all.

When all else fails, invoke luck :).

Clueless against pace again and it is not like it's a quick pitch. He might get 1 more match to save his career. I can't see him playing another ODI if he fails in the next game.
Disagree, drop him for the next game, play Tiwari in the middle order where he usually plays.Open with useless Dhawan again.
