mishra Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I have been watching our teams and merry go round for quite some time. One thing is certain. Everyone wants a series with India. We got a lot of talented players. My question, is if the time is about right to maintain multiple teams. Say one is playing against Zimbabwe and other is playing against Australia in parallel games. I know having completely parallel games isnt a very good idea but something close to it? Your thoughts please..... :two_thumbs_up:
1983-2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 just because we're so good at the moment doesnt mean we should have multiple teams, australia and windies also dominated the cricket world for decades but they didn't have multiple teams
Sidhoni Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 :headshake: We are playing way too much cricket, and so it might not help as all the players including the Seniors and Juniors will be playing at the same time, and none of them will get any rest.
DomainK Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Yeah, it will be fun if we create 10 teams and beat all the test paying teams in different matches on the same day. We can have on extra team called the 12th team like ordinary teams have a 12th man.
f.b.m Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Good thread. In theory India should have 5-10 teams purely based on population. I dont think its impossible to have a consistent India 2nd XI like they do now for WI at least for ODIs. It would reduce fatigue while increasing the actual number of games. Having said that, there's obviously value in the younger players gaining experience playing alongside the senior players.
CoverDrive Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 buchanan once suggested this about aus and llok what happened. So lets not get ahead of ourseleves. And thats what A teams are.
Cricket Tragic Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Yeah' date= it will be fun if we create 10 teams and beat all the test paying teams in different matches on the same day. We can have on extra team called the 12th team like ordinary teams have a 12th man. :yay::yay::yay:
Zero_Unit Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 We should take one 2 nations at once. Send our Best team against the stronger opponent and the weaker team against the weak opponent. That will solve a lof of resting issue :--D BTW to all those serius ppl, I meant this as a joke ...

I am not saying that we play two away series one against australia and other against South Africa parallely. All I am saying is we are most probably in a position to take on a decent team at home and a decent team away at the same time. Also, I am not saying that we allways play atleast two series in parallel. Put on thinking hat. All BCCI will have to do is pay more players but apart from that I see its a win win situation from us. Also we can have parallel series in two different countries but we can manage that games are not parallel. That way we will avoid over burning and churning of our players. Also for me we are allready at the top. We can do is stay at the top or make a new top and try to reach there.
BERGKAMP Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 How about we just throw out the Pakis, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and West Indies from international cricket and replace them with India B, India C, India D and India E. It would at last give us 9 genuine top class international teams! :giggle:

Sachinism Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Lulz the 2nd team lost to the lowest ranked team, what you gonna do with a 2nd side or a 3rd side
mishra Posted June 14, 2011 Author Posted June 14, 2011 We could have Used Karthik instead of that Brave Badri who wouldnt duck to a bouncer Second team has won the series though :)....
Sachinism Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Yeh but whats the point of having a 2nd team if that's going to constantly lose or just cross the line. Keep in mind, players like Raina, Kohli, Munaf, Bhaji wouldn't be playing in the 2nd side, so they'll be worse off

Infact we could have afforded more changes.
