Dont give a damn to other records , bus Tendulkar should always stay as the top run getter in both Tests and Odis . In Odis his legacy seems unchallenged but in Tests the way boring batsmen like Trott and Cook are scoring heaps of runs I am beginning to get a bit insecure . Tendulkar should rather keep on playing Tests till 2015 than thinking about playing the next world cup

I think it is case of paranoia if you start getting insecure about Sachin's record from somebody who has not scored even 2K runs.

Cook chasing Sachin's record would be the most interesting individual statistic we Sachin fans will be looking at for the next few years. Cook surely has the potential to overtake Sachin's tally of test runs, but overtaking will be one heavy stress filled mofo-ing task for him. He trails Sachin by 9227 runs... Just the amount of runs he will have to score looks like a mountain... even if he does manage to score 1000 runs per year he would need 9 years to pass that, which would need him to be playing at 35. Plus he needs to maintain form, not be injured / replaced any time of his career. A tall ask in my opinion.... Also there is the No.1 problem... The figure of 9227 is not definite... Sachin is yet to retire :P and he still is the No.1 bat in the world. :proud:

Tendulkar's batting records in both odis and Tests are out of reach IMO. Even if Tendulkar gives up odis right now nobody will even come close to his records. As for Tests SRT hasn't retired yet and most probably will give up shorter format (which he should) to extend his Test career and make even the Test record out of reach for others. With the way T20 is mushrooming no. of Tests will decrease and other than Cook it's difficult to see anyone have a realistic shot at SRT's Test record. But you have to remember that Cook is going through a purple patch which will not last forever. In fact just before Ashes he was on the verge of being dropped from the team altogether! But to be honest I would prefer team records over Tendulkar's record anyday. If someone affers me 4 consecutive world records or Test series win in all the countries, I would swap them with SRT's records.

No one offers you anything in life brother , u gotta go take it... Sachin made all his records in trying to achieve team goals for India. The records he has is testimoney to his collossal performance. Sachin cannot bowl for India, Sachin cannot bat for the other batsmen. He cannot field for the other 10 players. he is only one man and he has tried his best to garner wins for the team.

How can "Sachin the batsman" account for other player's performances within his own team? Better still... how is he supposed to stop each one of the 11 opposition players from performing? He is not playing a video game where he can control actions of all 11 players in the field. Or adjust the difficulty of the game to score 100' after 100's :P He cant re-start the game too if his team is losing :hitler: kuch zyada hi bol gaya mai :vroam:

Regardless of whether someone else breaks Sachin's records or not, he will be the greatest ever cricketer to have held the willow. His appeal is greater than numbers alone. His attitude, humility inspite of having all the talent in the world and hopes of a billion people on his shoulders is a source of inspiration. His almost childlike enthusiasm for the game is unparalleled. P.S I hope he plays the 2015 world cup too
