That will get them more tests in the future. Don't forget that the FTP is flexible. Look at how many tests India played in the 90s. Australia didn't offer us a tour for 7 years, England for 6 years and we played WI only once in the decade.

I know its a bit hard to grasp for you, but teams get more points for beating opposition ranked much higher than them, not by playing more Tests and getting smashed as NZ and WI usually are.

Would you rather see more of India vs Eng/SA/Aus or India vs WI/Bang just for the sake of it? The top teams should play more against each other. I agree on this. This will also produce more even kneel contests, making it more exciting and bring fans to the stadium. WI v Pak produced more even balanced Test matches with thrills and spills compared to what we are currently seeing with WI v Ind, where effectively a 2nd string India romped home to a comfortable dull win (barring day 1). It was funny seeing the disgruntled Jamaican fans on day 4 livid at WI being totally outplayed, but this is what happens in mis-matches. Tier 1 (play minimum of 4 per series with each other (tier 1), and a minimum 2 Tests per series with tier 2 teams) Ind, SA, Eng, SL, Aus Tier 2 (vice versa as above) Pak, WI, NZ, Zim, Bang Revise the number of matches after 4-5 years (after World Test Championship) reflecting the change in rankings. E.g. at minimum (home and away) India would play 32 matches with Tier 1 nations, and 20 matches with Tier 2 nations in 4-5 years.

SL tried to do so by sending their cricketers to Pak and see where it got them? ECB tried to help them later on by hosting their Test series and see how they repaid the faith - by their chairman (Butt) accusing Eng of fixing & throwing matches!!!

They should also bring in the 4-day ICC Inter-continental (ICC-IC) Cup into play. Where the bottom 1 or 2 Test team get demoted to it, and the top 1 or 2 from the ICC-IC cup get promoted. Currently taking place with the following nations: Afghanistan, UAE, Scotland, Canada, Holland, Ireland, Kenya, Namibia. http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc-intercontinental-cup-2011-13/content/series/504772.html Last year Afghanistan beat Scotland in a play-off final. (Afghanistan finished 1st in Group stages, and Scotland 2nd.) This will help the likes of West Indies and Bangladesh pull up their socks perform with more intent.
