Seriously it takes skill to pull of some of the exaggerated stuff he does with convinction for the masses to lap it up. Most Bollywood actors nowadays look like the same generic prototype as though they have been maufactured in a factory. Actors who don't match the prototype neither have acting skills nor charisma.People forget that you need to act first to be a actor,most of the southie actors/leading men that are ridiculed can outperform 90% of bollywood leading men today. On a side note this guy definetely looks like a talentless hack leeching of his brother's fame.

Rajni has had a theatre backround and started of a supporting actor building his way upto leading man by winning audiences with his performances kinda like Big B at the beginning of his career.Name today's bollywood actors who have similar credentials. Talking about charisma,Rajni's style is ione of the most imitated India Kinda like elvis:winky: in the U.S :winky:

I like Bollywood movies, but they simply arent beacons of acting excellence - just of entertainment, sometimes totally illogical (movies like Dabbang and Golmaal). On the contrary, Mallu movies made with very low budgets, arent flashy. But the actors in the industry are one of the best.

He is more into Tamil and Telugu. He is not exactly known for his acting talent either. He is more known as a superstar.

He is more known as a superstar. Nahi nahi - the first part was just to Pokay and not connected to comments about Mallu industry. Rajni acts only in Tamil movies nowadays which are also dubbed into Telugu. He is a very good actor and his skills can be seen in his older movies where he isnt constrained to a superstar image. In Movies like Thalapathi (Dalpati in Hindi), his acting is awesome. In older movies he used to portray the angry young man and sometimes the villian - his acting and facial expressions are remarkable in those.

But then, he may have acted well in some movies. Since I have not seen them, I should not judge him.

The older movies of Rajini are far better and show that there is an accomplished actor behind the superstar

The older movies of Rajini are far better and show that there is an accomplished actor behind the superstar I have seen some of his older movies as well - Andha Kanoon, Chaalbaaz and Hum come to mind. He was average in all of them. May be someday I will see some of his good Tamil movies with some subtitles.
