Cricket Tragic Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Never understood, how can anyone say IPL is not cricket, quality is bad.... That is pure jealousy as IPL really has set the benchmark with its fielding and brought tons of new strategies to the 3 formats of cricket. If anything, IPL brought a great lift to cricket as it was just fading with less people being interested in it.(Remember 2007 after our disaster WC, there was really loss of passion among us for cricket) IPL basically helped to rejuvenated cricket :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

Pollard just isnt good enough till yesterday, jaysuriya still played for lanka! He retired from Test cricket, the real game. Only for the money he was recieving in IPL!

Lol he played 3 tests in the last 3 years and he retired from it, only for the money he was receiving in IPL? He was not fit for test cricket and retired to prolong his career. All players play for money- why do you think your top players are playing in the FLT 20 while the domestic T20 tourny is on? Surely cricket in Pakistan must take precedence over higher paying country assignments?

In the last 3 years he played just 2 or 3 matches anyways

The fitness levels for tests are far higher than what is needed for short spells in ODIs and T20s. He isnt a very threatening player in tests because Batsman can have a low backlift and simply keep blocking his yorker. In T20s that is not an option because batsman have to go after the bowlers.

There is a reason why they are officiating there and not FTL. There is a reason why so many top players are involved in IPL There is a reason why top coaches and fitness experts are involved with IPL. Because franchises are there to win and win badly. FTl is more like glorified backyard cricket with no real commitment.

Anyways, Lets start afresh. Make a list of all the points you think why FL T20 is better than IPL, and we will discuss it. Here is a list of metrics from my side 1) Quality of international players 2) Number of people in stadiums 3) TV revenue 4) Player Pay packets 5) Number of matches and length of the league 6) TRP ratings of the tournaments 7) quality of cricket played
