EnterTheVoid Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 I really like the look they were going for here --- Getting Buddha to keep an eye out for their town type of thing. Look at that, bloody brilliant
MonishaSarabhai Posted July 6, 2011 Author Posted July 6, 2011 Sree's list getting bigger all the time :) couple of u mentioned meeting SRT. i would like to recv darshan as well. but i know i will be too nervous, too much in awe to even ask for an autograph/picture :(
EnterTheVoid Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Try to recognize this place, I went there when I was a kid and I got an itching to go again. ----
Mariyam Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 ^^^ I've been there. BTW: Notice the toes. All ten toes are of the same size. Buddhism takes egalitarianism to new heights. :P
EnterTheVoid Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 So, whats the location? Its the 'Reclining Buddha' statue in the 'Wat Pho' temple in Bangkok, Thailand. Stunning piece of architecture that.
EnterTheVoid Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 All right, see if you can recognize this: I haven't been there but will do, one day.
Holysmoke Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 So, whats the location? Its the 'Reclining Buddha' statue in the 'Wat Pho' temple in Bangkok, Thailand. Stunning piece of architecture that. I was on my way there at around noon, when my friends and I decided to have a drink because we were kinda early. Well, one thing led to another and we were still drinking from buckets at khao-san at 6 AM the next morning. :cantstop: Didnt end up going to Wat-Pho :((
Mariyam Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 @ Sree_India: Mother Russia statue. I can't remember the name of the place. It was damaged in some war heavily. I didn't google. Swear. My dad had been there some years ago for a business deal and the person there gave him a miniature statue.
EnterTheVoid Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 You're right, its called "The Motherland Calls". The type of propganda that would make Goebbels blush but top class architecture nonetheless. Holysmoke, majority of the stuff in Thailand worth seeing are religious sites. Bars and clubs just don't do it for me.
Holysmoke Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Going a little off topic, but there are a couple of my best pics. Somehow, I find beauty in these pics. They almost look like scale models. Imagine skydiving into this:--D
Holysmoke Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Holysmoke, majority of the stuff in Thailand worth seeing are religious sites. Bars and clubs just don't do it for me. I thought so too. Then I saw the price of alcohol there :hehe:
EnterTheVoid Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Stunning. Mate, they invented a special sport to go sky diving in urban cities. Its called 'B.A.S.E. Jumping'
EnterTheVoid Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 You have to be utterly insane to do something this dangerous, going sky diving in cities.
Mariyam Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Nice pics there Holy. One more thing on my bucket list: I want to smoke from a pipe once. Churchill style. No I don't smoke at all, but this I really want to do once.
