Abhinav Mukund...

I think Mukund has been showing pretty good temperament and willingness to become a test batsman over Murali Vijay. MV still may have two more chances in the third test but it is high time he be sacked of his "reserve opener" position to have Mukund for the coming series. Yes, we know Vijay did well in the Bangalore test match and he has some contributions here and there but I think he has to go back to domestic and really show improvement to get back his position. It will be very unfair for Mukund to be not playing as an opener in the team in the absence of Veeru in England for the first test match.

Mukund looks much better than vijay, english pitches and bowlers will be even more difficult to handle for murali vijay. he himself will be surprised if he gets selected in the squad for england tour ahead of mukund. especially after looking at his performances in overseas test matches.

vijay can do better only in sub-continent but we want an opener who would do better all round the world. Atleast mukund showed willingness to stay and fight it out. He is just 21 , as he put more efforts and stay with team as reserve opener, he could be a good future prospect as sehwag have showed willingness to move down the order when the greats retire. I would go with mukund for his gutsy nature and also him being a left hander

One thing which worries me about Mukund is his front foot play. Agiant swing bowlers like Anderson who pitch the ball up he will struggle. I didn't see even one assured front foot drive by him. He hardly moves his feet and generally inside edges full deliveries. But temperamentally he's good and definitely ahead of Vijay at the moment. Was disappointed by Vijay in this series. I thought he was a pretty decent Test player but he was pretty lose outside off in this series. Maybe the T20s and IPL got to him.

More a case of Vijay chucking it away than Mukund earning it, up until now IMO. Though I never thought Vijay had much of a case in the first place, one innings at home vs the Aussies and that's it.

too early to say. both look equally unimpressive in the series so far. Mukund has gotten better though. could actually come down to the performance in the final test. and dunno if the selectors would want to keep the left-right combination or not.

Today... Mukund's 48 has propelled him to a such a position that even chica can't stop him from being made the Team India Captian' date=' and M Vijay should be made vice captain [/quote'] :cantstop:

I'm impressed with Mukund's temperament and see him as one for the future, but at the moment there are serious technical flaws in his game when the bowlers pitch it full and get it to move in sharply, which Anderson would exploit ruthlessly. I'm leaning on Parthiv or Karthik as being a stop gap option, though Karthik doesn't seem in the frame at all.

1 inning of 48 and he is already better than Vijay? lol

I was thinking of the same things. If Anderson pitches it up and swings it back into the lefty, Mukund would be a dead duck going by the way he has batted in this series.

I have a better idea...Bhajji should be made the manager of Team India..and should be allowed to slap Chennai trundler openers whenever they fail to score :winky:
 How could I forget his slapping skills. Adds serious value to his batting and bowling.
