Jersey #10 Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 I am calling for the joke section here EPIC :fail:
Show_stopper Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Sharjah 1998 vs Aus after his century that got us through to the final...everyone was talking about how if Aus get Sachin cheaply the Cup would be theirs.
Jersey #10 Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Sachin has scored 99 centuries and has scored 90+ twenty three times. The OP is suggesting that Sachin has never performed in a hyped match...see why i am calling for the joke section now? :giggle:
saneindian Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Hype and hysteria before Mohali semifinal was artificially created by the media and the sponsors and politicos where where viewers were easily able to pic up the fake fighting between aamir sohail and ravi shastri arranged in the TV studios just to hype it up and rake dollars from the cricket match.Same England is doing by hyping up this series based on 2000th' date='100th match and sachin's hundredth century by employing statements from swann etc just to rake in dollars from indian viewership.[/quote'] Then whats the points of creating this thread?
pensionplan Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Every series in the past had big pre-match hype about Tendulkar vs some opposition bowler. And yet VVS and RD over the last dozen years always came out on triumphs better than any other Indian batsman all things considered in Tests and had a bigger role to play in most of the famous wins. Talk about being obsessed about one player in a team game it does not get better than this each time a series is being played ofcourse for no fault of Tendulkar but the media and some of his maniacal fanatics.
maniac Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 And yet VVS and RD over the last dozen years always came out on triumphs better than any other Indian batsman all things considered in Tests and had a bigger role to play in most of the famous wins. Talk about being obsessed about one player in a team game it does not get better than this each time a series is being played ofcourse for no fault of Tendulkar but the media and some of his maniacal fanatics. Dude why are you bringing VVS and RD into this....I didn't want to post on this retarded thread to begin with but cmo'n.... Let me give you an example:If one of your references include the 2001 Border-Gavaskar trophy where VVS and RD partnership overshadowed the God himself Look who is the 3rd highest run getter...If you remove VVS and Dravid's epic innings-Look who made overall more runs(Once again I am not taking away anything they did on that memomorable day or their contributions to our golden era)...All I am saying is that SRT is either a robot or he is rightly called god for churning out runs day in and day out.The man has built this reputation in eyes of his fans over a period of time,so I don't get what your beef is with that http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;home_or_away=1;host=6;opposition=2;spanmax1=06+Jul+2002;spanmin1=15+Mar+2000;spanval1=span;team=6;template=results;type=batting;view=series
pensionplan Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 so I don't get what your beef is with that It is with folks that go with substr(of your moniker, 1,6, || 's') who are dime a dozen.
CSK Fan Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 And yet VVS and RD over the last dozen years always came out on triumphs better than any other Indian batsman all things considered in Tests and had a bigger role to play in most of the famous wins. Talk about being obsessed about one player in a team game it does not get better than this each time a series is being played ofcourse for no fault of Tendulkar but the media and some of his maniacal fanatics. The England media (which includes some of the best cricket experts and ex-players) has written more in praise/anticipation of Sachin than the Indian tour. A record of 100 100s is a Bradmanesque record, yet when the name of Bradman is taken, (its taken in terms of an individual achievement and not in terms of wins and losses for Australia) every Australian holds his head up with pride. And this ultimate achievement will belong to an Indian and perhaps for all time. yet we have some self-loathers who simply cannot think in those terms or take pride in one of their owns achievement. In the future, every where Sachin is going to travel, he is going to get a similar welcome and honour by all and the very players whose names you quoted will be the first ones to acknowledge he stands heads and shoulders above them. And not everyone of them will be maniacal fanatics as you claim. No one has any doubt that he is a living legend and transcends greatness It will be better for your health if you finally comes to terms with reality, which is that by even the most unbiased of fans standards, Sachin stands heads and shoulders above everyone except maybe Bradman. And no amount of you crying or protesting when everytime someone puts him on a pedestal, is going to change that
pensionplan Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 by all and the very players whose names you quoted will be the first ones to acknowledge he stands heads and shoulders above them. Now if you take your Tendukar tinted glasses off for a second the very players I quoted be it VVS or RD will never acknowledge that Tendulkar is "head and shoulders" above them. Stop dreaming and get real.
mishra Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Sachin has scored 99 centuries and has scored 90+ twenty three times. The OP is suggesting that Sachin has never performed in a hyped match...see why i am calling for the joke section now? :giggle: +1 For me if a batsmans scores over 50 that means he has contributed. OP is just a joke. There are players who would be happy to get that many international appearnces.
pensionplan Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Even in the famed 2001 Kolkatta test' date=' Tendulkar took the wickets of Hayden, Gilchrist (Both century makers if i am not wrong in that series) and Warne on the final day to trigger the middle order collapse. Again in Adelaide 2003, Tendulkar took the key wickets of Damien Martyn and Steve Waugh when they were looking set in the 3rd Innings on the 4th day. There is no taking Tendulkar away from a game. He contributes one way(batting) or the other(bowling).[/quote']Yes Tendulkar should have been man of the match in both those Tests. Now happy. :-)
CSK Fan Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Now if you take your Tendukar tinted glasses off for a second the very players I quoted be it VVS or RD will never acknowledge that Tendulkar is "head and shoulders" above them. Stop dreaming and get real. Then you know nothing about those two guys and are doing both of them a disfavour. And I can also bet if tomorrow, Laxman and Dravid are being hailed as the best in the world and getting good press everywhere, you would be the first one to turn on them for daring to be 'the best'
pensionplan Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Then you know nothing about those two guys and are doing both of them a disfavour. I know enough about those two guys to trust them to be not lunatic enough to acknowledge that Tendulkar is "head and shoulders" above them as you seem to claim in your mad obsession for that one player. And I can also bet if tomorrow, Laxman and Dravid are being hailed as the best in the world and getting good press everywhere, you would be the first one to turn on them for daring to be 'the best'Don't bet your life on it. That is all I am going to say.
jonas10 Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 The hype around this series can never match the hysteria before the 2011 Mohali match or the 2003 Centurion match vs Pakistan. 2003 was hyped for a year early as it was a round robin match and the relations were poor after 1999 kargil war. Of course SRT and the Indians were up to the challenge.
ahilya Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Then whats the points of creating this thread?I didn't create this thread so you cant accuse me.:giggle:
ahilya Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 2003 was hyped for a year early as it was a round robin match and the relations were poor after 1999 kargil war. Of course SRT and the Indians were up to the challenge.True.Moreover one has to look into the time period of 2004-2008(till 26/11) when there were frequent series between india and pakistan the rivalry has started to lose it glitter as for india it has started to look upto the Aussies for Aus-indo rivalry.Indio-pak rivalry is like a bubble live it period of 2-3 years and then faints coz teams meet after long gap.Its not like Ashes. It cant be compared to Ashes.
mishra Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I know enough about those two guys to trust them to be not lunatic enough to acknowledge that Tendulkar is "head and shoulders" above them as you seem to claim in your mad obsession for that one player. Which other player from playing eleven has recognised that? Can you quote please? And where Dravid or Laxman has said no comments on Tendulkar? Can you quote that? Most players starting from Sehwag, they were playing cricket as Tendulkar fan. Cheers.
Blue Panther Posted July 23, 2011 Author Posted July 23, 2011 Bumped. Maybe because i opened this thread.:giggle:
