Awful Sky Commentary : Pathetic England commentary watch thread!

TMS is really good. Often listen in the car, would mute Sky and have that on if I could be arsed. Don't have as much against the Sky lot as many, but Nasser is a cancer to the ears.

Its amazing, as we know Manjrekar is idiotic commentator. But in the sky sports commentary box, compared to the cheer leaders from sky, he sounds like the voice of reason:cantstop:

Oh this started even back during the West Indies tour. Paul Allot and Jimmy PadAms..Like KT..I am also in snozzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzze mode when they talk about BCCI.

Just for this reason, i just wish BCCI don't agree for this DRS. Lets do it in 4-5yrs time, when we think we want to do it. Not just because world wants it.

Agreed, but he's boring, Sir Ignorant Botham can't see beyond England, His best today-- "England are in a very powerful position" midway through Swan and Broady partnership, may be around 160-170, I mean are you fecking kidding me. At the end of the day he was certain that England will win this and keep winning.

I can even afford to endure Atherton and Nasser, but Sir Ian Botham is VERY annoying. He’s a classic cheerleader. If the English team swam across the chanell from England to France, he will make it sound like they crossed the Atlantic to US of A. Its pretty clear that he watches very little ofworld cricket, other than his commentary stints at sky, coz he literally knows nothing, NOT-A-THING, about players from other nations. Also, he’s the quintessential ‘Look-I-told-you-so’ sorta guy. With him, hindsight isn’t merely 20-20 vision, but it can even see around corners! If a batsmen creams a wide half-volley to the cover boundary for four, you can literally expect a musical of praises from him. However, if the same batsmen nicks the same ball to slips, our man will come out with a ‘Whatay TERRIBLE shot..’. He’s pretty much the worst kind of character to have in a dressing room. Not much use when things are going well and depressing when things are going badly. Kinda the cricketer of version of Fineleg, except that Fineleg does not sing praises of anything at any point. :D

I really like Holding though. Yes he does come across as bitter sometimes but he has an astute cricketing brain and that is always a pleasure. I also like the fact that he analyses bowling performances very well.

Agreed. Ian Botham is the worst commentator I have ever listened to. Like you said he doesn't know absolutely anything about players from other countries and he's a bigger cheerleader than Sanjay Manjrekar and that's saying something !!!

Why do Indians feel the need to address Botham as Sir? Whose "Sir" is he? Its not like Indian owe any allegiance to the Queen. Afterall the title was given to that dork and his fellow dork Boycott by the Queen. By acknowledging hi "Sir"ship, Indians are acknowledging the status of Queen even if she is just a figurehead. We should call them Dork#1 (Botham) and Dork #2(Boycott). No more praise is necessary.

Absolutely unnecessary to disrespect the head of state of another country. The Queen of England I assure you is a very respectable person. I could flip it around and ask you, who are you to acknowledge whether Sir Ian Botham is a knight of the British realm or not?

Both Bumble and David Gower are awesome, even though personality wise, they couldn’t be more different. David Gower reminds me a lot of James May (of Top Gear game, for the uninitiated) – Very restrained, subtle, classic gentlemanly British behavior. :nice: Atherton is just a sneaky b@$t@rd + astute cricket observer rolled into one. You like listening to him, but there’s always the tinge of suspicion about his credibility that makes you a little hesitant when accepting what he says.
