I was only watching intermittently and didn't notice Sanju Manju had turned up for a while :cantstop: The bits about Holding and Atherton are pretty much on the money. They definitely know what they're talking about. I've mentioned before about Athers that he always seems far more clued up about opposition sides in general than any of the others. You just have to put his slightly snidey nature aside. Can't say I get that from many of the others. Nasser and Botham are honestly the craziest cheerleaders going, they'll have worthwhile input here and there but otherwise...fecking hell

Is it me or is Bumble becoming more unbearable by the day? Constantly referring to PK as a 'dobber', bigging up Anderson before he even bowled a ball and generally just being quite derogatory towards India. He used to be fun but since the World Cup, where he was also constantly making snidy comments about India, he has become as bad as Botham or Hussain.

Both Bumble and David Gower are awesome, even though personality wise, they couldn’t be more different. David Gower reminds me a lot of James May (of Top Gear game, for the uninitiated) – Very restrained, subtle, classic gentlemanly British behavior. :nice: Atherton is just a sneaky b@@rd + astute cricket observer rolled into one. You like listening to him, but there’s always the tinge of suspicion about his credibility that makes you a little hesitant when accepting what he says.

James May is awesome. May>Clarkson I actually think that Hussain is an excellent commentator. Bumble is overrated imo. I don't find him funny and he is not very insightful. Beefy is just a very poor commentator.

I don't know why you guys are getting your panties in a wad. Commentary is also about giving your opinion wherever you feel like it. there is nothing wrong with what any of those commentators have said.. what is wrong is everybody taking it personally.

to be quite honest all the sky sports commentators generally speaking, are a bunch of biased, arrogant and patriotic *****s who have nothing better to do than sing praise of how England have "done wonders" with the ashes ( hardly the side they used to be, and ponting out of form) and recent form with the Sri-lanka series! the Majority of them, do make you ponder whether the English generally have a grudge with India or whether their paid to do it. Constant outbursts of luck, bad shots, and bad form are being raised when it comes to the indian team. Botham - the idiot of the team, overall makes himself look very big-headed, very biased indeed, remarks such as "I honestly think Prior is the best wicketkeeper", and "Broad is right up there being one of the top allorunders", and all of this information and results were taken over how long? less than a year !!?? yet again, analysis award goes to beefster! who else? oh, Mr Ill back u up beefy Hussain , being indian, one would think he would be mor eopen-minded in terms of general opinion on teams/players of cricket but at times he can be just as bad as SIB! Same goes with Atherton as well, at times hes a gem of a commentator to listen to, but his anti-indian comments overshadow his good tone needed to be used for cricket! The other three are at least respectable commentators to some degree, but the overall package has a real biased theme, which for an indian isnt as delightful as one though.

Bob Willis and Graham Onions Not sure if any of the UK bros were watching tonights highlights programme but Onions and Willis talk the biggest load of crap. Onions said England have enough runs! Not sure what everyones problem is. I mean can you seriously object to"England are right in this match"? Im fairly sure anybody can make that observation,

^ Agree, you are never **in**, on this pitch, as the ball swings all day. So seeing off the new ball & then playing your shots wont work as a strategy. Even experienced batsmen can get out any time. The lesser batsmen (like Yuvraj/Raina/Dhoni) have little chance of surviving - they must play their shots like Broad & make the most of their stay at the crease. Like the English innings progressed, there will be brief partnerships and then a couple of wickets will fall quickly. We need to maximize the partnerships. England are very much in the game. I think we'll do well to get to 250-275ish total, given that we can only count on Tendu, Dravid & Laxman.

England are definitely in a decent position in this game. Their lower order partnerships and fiery bowling has swung the momentum in their favor at least to some extent. India would have to work very hard to get a decent lead here.

Given that the thread now seems to have changed it's direction a bit from discussing sky commentators to the state of the match in the last few posts, will the mod who probably bowed down to the snide remark of serani and joined the "willis onions" thread here, remove this portion and join it to some other relevant thread? In similar vein to serani's remark, do we need to have discussions on the match in different threads when we already have a dedicated one?

I was watching Star cricket commentry, but somehow coverage took some problem and Willow Cricket, which was showing star cricket telecast, has now switched to sky sports telecast, and it's nice to hear Shane Warne. Ian Both and all are still talking top stuff about all English players, but it's nice to see Shane Warne talking about Rahul Dravid's ability to handle every bowler in the world. Great to hear from a great bowler that. Love whenever Dravid is talked about by some great players.
