DeepFineLeg Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 We've had one too many important catches being dropped by our erstwhile best slip catcher. Chanderpaul, Kirk Edwards in WI 3rd test (went on to score 100s) and England's best batsman, Trott, here at Lords. We need to groom someone younger - Raina could be a good candidate. So far haven't seen him drop any catches while standing as 3rd or 4th slip
Yoda-esque Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Was waiting for one of these threads to start :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

Yoda-esque Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Lets see if you are still hysterical if this dropped catch equates to a 100 (for Trott) at Lords. As I mentioned before,Hindsight is a great thing to have....
Jersey #10 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Not until Dravid retires. That catch was very difficult anyway
asterix Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Not until Dravid retires. That catch was very difficult anyway No it was not that difficult. Dravid was caught napping..
NareshK Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Yeah replace someone who has taken the most number of catches in test matches with a noob just because he dropped one today and that too a very difficult chance. Nice advice, genius.
punjabi_khota Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Yeah replace someone who has taken the most number of catches in test matches with a noob just because he dropped one today and that too a very difficult chance. Nice advice' date= genius. :hysterical: He has been dropping one almost every game :dontknow: But I think the problem is, that it would be difficult to put Dravid anywhere else :hmmmm2:
Rahul Dravid Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 hahah.. sometimes i really laugh at what some ppl on this forum has to say and hwo quickly they decide on such things... Dravid is the greatest slip catcher of all time.. most catches.. and hes got the safest pair of hands.. EVERYONE drops.. hes had a few tough drops.. and YES THAT WAS A TOUGH CATCH... i have played cricket and i know... u watch on tv and think its easy lol.. away from sight, one hand attempt DROPPING on hiim.. DRAVID IS THE SLIP CATCHER. LIVE WITH IT. RAINA A MAN THATS NOT EVEN CERTAIN IN THE TEST TEAM TO TAKE OVER?.. jesus...
NareshK Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 :hysterical: He has been dropping one almost every game :dontknow: But I think the problem is' date=' that it would be difficult to put Dravid anywhere else :hmmmm2:[/quote'] There will be a thread to drop the new player because he is going to drop catches too. Its not easy fielding in the slips. Sometimes you miss the sharp chances.

punjabi_khota Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Yeah and there will be a thread to drop the new player because he is going to drop catches too. Who is talking about dropping players ? :nervous:
DeepFineLeg Posted July 21, 2011 Author Posted July 21, 2011 Some people always think with their heart. what can I say ?
NareshK Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Who is talking about dropping players ? :nervous: I mean change the position of fielder.
DeepFineLeg Posted July 21, 2011 Author Posted July 21, 2011 Why can't people look at this objectively? Dravid was great for a long time, but age makes reflexes slower...thats just life. Even Dravid's batting - Ganguly just said a while back, he thought Dravid's best batting was in 2001-05. He's still very good and better than most, but age affects everybody... TOO MANY IMP CATCHES HAVE BEEN DROPPED BY DRAVID RECENTLY.
achilles Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Okay, so if Dhoni loses this series, time to groom a new captain? :woot:
DeepFineLeg Posted July 21, 2011 Author Posted July 21, 2011 Okay' date=' so if Dhoni loses this series, time to groom a new captain? :woot:[/quote'] Have you never studied statistics in your life?
achilles Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Have you never studied statistics in your life? According to statistics, Dravid has taken the highest number catches at slip in the history of the game. Seems like you need a lesson on statistics.
