Dhoni's superstar status is a testament to the country's love for success and an even bigger love for rags to riches stories. And rightly so. It has nothing to do with his Test cricket form. Dhoni symbolizes a victor's elan: brash, expressive and yet cool headed. Its a rare combination. I'll respond in detail a little later, but its totally unfair to call all 120 crore Indians as lovers of mediocrity.

I was just talking about his decision to prioritise his Test career over his T20 one, Kim Hughes 2.0 or not. Warner, Haddin and Hussey also play the IPL, Aussies have a big bash going on right now, Starc was playing matches just a few days back as did Warner.. IPL is a part of the problem but that is not the only problem we have. The rot is deeper and putting all the blame on IPL alone is taking the easier route out.
