One thing I noticed about Sachin

team pressure situations?like 100 at Chennai chasing 387 against England,or the 100 @ Cape Town last year?or scoring a double against Aus? I think you r making too much of one failure.Sachin wasnt the only one who failed yesterday?
It's the old 'the team needed him the most when he failed' bullshit all over again. You'll hear it everytime when SRT fails in a semi-important match.

How typical. Are you too thick enough to understand this is not a Sachin-bashing thread? Oh well, dumb question. Guess you are.

I'll be flamed for saying this' date=' but the truth is these days Sachin can't handle pressure that well. I bet with my friend that he will get out for a low score in the 2nd innings and he did. He's the world's best batsman and it's sad to see him not even trying to play positively[/quote'] Is that really true? He seems to be handling pressure better in the last 3-4 years than he ever did. The 50 to chase against Pakis at Delhi, the 50 at Bangalore to chase against Aus, the 100 against England at Chennai, the 111 at Joburg, then he also played out the final 2 sessions or whatever at capetown, and also numerous knocks under pressure in ODIs. I think the hyped up 100th test as well as his failure at Lords just got to him. Even in the first innings he looked really good until Tremlett started bowling. I'm not that worried though. He will come good at Trent Bridge. B->

Innings reminded of the worst innings he played in Test against Pak in Bangalore test 2004...but I do feel he may come down hard in the next test. Just gut feeling but if I see what I have seen in last 5 days...this tour will push this famed Indian batting line up to edge.

He has played very well in tight situations in recent years tbh. I agree that what we saw yesterday was a bit like the old Tendulkar (2004-06) where he got too defensive. Not happy with it but it's just one innings. What people haven't caught onto is that Dravid hasn't scored a 4th innings 50 in more than 5 years and this is the time when we've had some really good 4th inn performances. Maybe someone can check the numbers for our batsmen in the last 3-4 years.

He just made his fans realize he isn't a god but a mere human, so yeah after all he's achieved and still going great at 38, you can't expect him to perform like that every time.

Tendulkar made 14* off 91 balls at Cape Town earlier this year. Granted, it was a different situation because he came in at two down, and the ever reliable in the second innings Laxman followed, but still, it was a defensive approach and it worked. Number of runs wasn't important here, seeing off overs was. I think he was a bit out of it because of the viral infection, nothing else.

Gambhir was coming out and playing agressively to Swann before that. In comes a defensive mindset Tendu' date=' advices something to Gambhir, Gambhir playes a defensively next ball and gets out..[/quote'] LOL do you think it works that way. He probably was telling Gambhir not to play those dangerous cut shot off the stumps. He did quite a few of them.

Sachin's Struggle As dissapointing as the loss at Lords was for all you Indian fans out there, I can only imagine that Tendulkar's failure to deliver on his much anticipated 100 was even more hard to stomach I recently learned that Sachin has quite a poor history at Lords with a top score of 37, hardly worthy of the Indian frontrunner. Since its unlikely that he'll ever get another chance to play at Lords, consider this an autopsy, why did the man often touted as the greatest cricketer ever have so much trouble at this ground? :hatsoff:

I heard the commies saying that something about the sightscreen at Lord's is just not right for Tendulkar.. something to do with his height. But then guys like Kallis and Ponting doesn't have a good record at Lords too.

Sachin needs to get back to playing his natural game like he did in the first innings . There is no need to worry about Lords or any other venue as they are just hype.

Why dont people like sunil gavaskar say these things to sachin that he is pretty defensive and it hardly works. I think maybe a guy like ganguly would have asked to play his natural game if he was batting with sachin, but unfortunately raina was batting and i dont think he would have dared to say these things to sachin.
