B-> But I am a bigger supporter of the sport of cricket though, and quite frankly India does not deserve to be number one after abysmal performances in WI and now this performance. I am not a blind troll , I am not saying SL should be number 1. They are fine wherever they are now ( 5 or something?B->). But SA and Eng deserve to be number one much more than this hyped up Indian lineup. :hatsoff: Look up the rankings, we're no.1 so suck it up, and im sure that hurts:hysterical::hysterical:

We need to play this with a defensive mindset and unfortunately however boring it might be for us fans,that is the right approach.

Ind needs a mr. fix it Someone will have to make tough decisions regarding the approach for the last two days. 1. If we bowl them out quickly, we still would have to chase around 350. 2. If we try to dry the runs, then we may cut down on the time we need to bat as Eng would take longer to get to a score of 200-220. But still a big task of trying to save the game We need to be positive, try to bowl Eng out for 150 (hopefully something will click) and then bat well. We have to back ourselves to bowl them out or bat under 125 overs. I for one believe we can. We have to get down to the trenches and fight our way out step by step.

Ultimate_Game Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Plan for Day 4 India is all but out of the Test and at best can salvage a draw, which would feel like a win for India. England holds all the cards and India will need to bat out of their skin to earn the draw. With that in mind India's best bet is to force England to bat for as long as possible and will need to slow down things a bit. There are 196 overs left in the game yet (98 for each of the remaining 2 days - 8 overs added per day due to rain on Day 1). England would ideally like to score quick runs and let India bat for 130 overs or so to get a target of 400 or thereabouts. With no rain predicted over the next couple of days India should get defensive and revert back to the ploy which worked so well against Aussies in 2008, i.e. 8-1 field and bowl wide outside of off. If Eng try to force the pace they run the risk of throwing their wkts else the RR will be low. Essentially India should try to force England to bat 75-80 overs to score 200 odd runs needed to set India a target of 400 which would leave India around 116 overs to bat, which is difficult but doable. I was surprized Dhoni didn't revert to these tactics when England were 300 odd for 5 with Zaheer out of the match and India already in a position of not winning the game. If Dhoni had slowed the things down England would have needed to bat at least 20 more overs than they did in the first innings. Hope Dhoni doesn't repeat the same mistake and look to play for the draw.

From the forecast it doesn't look like it's gonna rain a lot in any case, overcast conditions with passing showers could be the worst thing India can hope for. Let's hope for a bright and sunny Monday.
