It seems it is fashionable these days for everyman and his dog to take pot shots at everything related to Indian cricket when they get a chance, and most of them do not refuse to jump onto the bandwagon at any opportunity. Some even come in disguise to have a little ego boost on the internet by bashing some Indians :winky: There is more than a little jealousy from these parties I feel (maybe even subconsciously), all the other boards wish they were as rich as BCCI, all players wish their salaries were as big as our players, and all fans wish their teams have had as much success as our team in the last 5 years. It's all good, you have to roll with the punches and the little lows will make the highs even sweeter, plus I would rather be at the top where everyone wants to knock us down than in mediocrity where we are the nice little Indians and everybody's best friend.

But How does the then English Bowling atack compare to the new one ? The debate is here mainly about how good the CURRENT Indian & English Test teams are...I still maintain that the current Indian team is yet to be fully tested in Bouncy, Swinging & Seaming conditions (Yes some of the old guys are still there but other than Drvaid, the seniors seems to be in variable form) as The current English team is yet to be fully tested in Sub continent spinning wickets in tests... anyway..we have more tests to go...We'll be able to draw our conclusions more clearly if we had a couple of more tests to look at

Our friend Nasser makes valid points. You get the feeling he is going prematurely gaga over this series, but look beyond that and it's not a terrible appraisal. Most interesting is towards the end, about how much each team cares about the no.1 ranking. It's something I've thought about, and must say I have never held it in the high regard as most do. Do we really care that much about it? Case in point - did anyone genuinely give a monkeys about losing points for not beating WI 0-3? Is it something we will let override everything else? An arbitrary system seems to cloud many peoples' minds. England have the ambition for it, fair enough. I must say other than India being no.1 I don't even know what the table looks like.

mate..didnt Aussies face the same thing when they had that invincible team of theirs ? Remember how arrogant their fans were at the time ? Remember how the Australian cricket board bullied the sub Continent visiting teams over there ? Remember how we despised their board's bullish behavior & we didnt think too kindly of the arrogance of their fans spesialy on how they liked to demean all other teams, their players & specially their fans..How they thought everybody else is like beneath them ? my my..how have the tables turned now ?... now these same traits are shown by another team that is on top & their fanatical & arrogant fans.. As I see the current situation, most of the teams are in transition. If I'm not wrong then India and England have used very less players in last few years. It means that they rarely change their side or drop their players. Both these settled teams are being tested everywhere and we might be able to see a clearer picture in next 2-3 years. For now there is nothing to take away from top 3 teams. All three have been very competitive and played best to their potential. What India can learn from England is the management of players. Tbh, India gives their players as superstars, but they have made them as non-stop working machines. For last few years, England have changed it's policy and it has paid for them. I remember when I first heard about maintaining fast bowlers in England. If I'm not wrong then coaches fix number of overs pacers bowl in a year and once they reach the limit they are stopped from bowling. This includes bowling in all forms of cricket. Not sure who introduced this policy. If India wants to maintain it's cricket, then board should start doing more in this direction. Look at Dhoni. He has played maximum cricket in whole world in last 4-5 years. India will have set different priorities and use their players accordingly.

India's innings could have ended much earlier as well had Dravid's catches been taken or few plumb lbw's weren't denied. You guys say you have the best batting line up in the world, it didn't show up in Lords. Let's see what happens in next match.

MSD's captaincy is overrated. The decision to not to bowl ishu after the luch was pretty bad and cost us a lot. He made a mistake in west indies no to chase 85 runs as well. He is pretty cool, but somehow i think msd is not a test captaincy material. Even sourav said that msd doesnt enjoy playing test cricket.
