Rockers of ICF, any suggestions on the new/new-ish rock bands that are worth listening? During the last few years the only new rock bands I've actively tried to listen to have been Indian bands. I wanna know what's happening in the world scene though. To give you an idea of how stagnant my new band trialing has become, the last "new" bands I knew of were Incubus, Evanascense, Rammstein, etc. Please suggest some new bands I gotta give a listen to (language aint a barrier. I've heard a few Tagalok (Filipino lang) bands as well and bought a CD of one of them too).

^ Grown out of it long time back although I must admit I never gave it a decent go. I did like thrash metal though. By the time its 34 thrash metal becomes uni-dimensional, then what chance does death metal have unless the personality is extremely aggressive and frustrated. I still listen to thrash metal bands like pantera and megadeth for the nostalgic value but can't listen to a whole album in one stretch...not even Metallica's early ones so you can imagine where I am coming from. Couple of years ago I tried listening to their Death Magnetic album...damn I couldn't get through even 4 songs in a go. Hey but there's this new Indian band called Kryptos, I am giving them a try these days...their sound is pretty smooth for a thrash metal band but the vocals are the typical bow bow bow bow bow

Black keys have been my favorite for the last year' date='i have a bad feeling about them going totally mainstream though.[/quote']I saw a few of their videos. I especially liked these - Heavy Soul - nice bluesy riffs with a grungy sound Brooklyn Bound - same as above 240 years before your time - clearly inspired by early Floyd albums like Atom Heart Mother ... again bluesy riffs Countdown - it has Doors written all over it...nice She Said She Said, and Yearnin; - same as above The Way I Feel When I am With You - full tu blues Them Eyes - very Hendrix-ish blues Stay All Night - Cool Blues Can't Find My Mind - same as above Overall, they seem like a mix of bluesy riffs with grungy sound and punkish song lengths. But the most unique part I liked about them is that they don't seem to use bass at all...maybe if they get a bassist the guy can introduce some decent leads as well. I think it's one of those bands that will grow on you but they are worth it. I also saw some videos from their new album Brother(?) and that is slightly disappointing...its too pop-ish (as you were mentioning mainstream). I actually started watching the videos from their Brother album which weren't very impressive but luckily I clicked on Heavy Soul in the related videos frame and that revealed the older ones. Nice band! They are sure worth downloading and giving a dedicated listen. Thanks for the discovery!

Hey Shree, you could try this band from Singapore (I think) called 'Rudra' they are a new genre of metal - they call it Vedic Death Metal or Vedic Metal. I dunno I didn't quite like it coz of the bow bow bow bow voice but in general vedic rock is pretty good...the Indian classical music sounds very nice when fused with rock (but not metal...lol) Here's a couple - VQ4aFwbrSN0 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVvDOTxEb_Q]‪Rudra - Hymns from the Blazing Chariot - Official (HD)‬‏ - YouTube[/ame]
