I have taken offense to Flower and Strauss in the Indian dressing room to reverse the appeal. Flower always talks about playing the game hard and fair. He expected Pietersen to "bite the bullet" and play through hernia. Probably, it was time for Flower to take it up on his chin and have a word with Bell and just move on.

It was still the right thing to do. We should request Flower and Strauss to reconsider Pietersen's decision in the first Test match! Anyways, it's time to move on.

Strauss also recalled Angelo Matthews in the Champions Trophy 2009. Ruthless and being dispirited are two different things. Collingwood acknowledged his mistake in the post-match conference and Vettori forgave him. It was done and dusted. I believe the game should be played in such a way that you can have a beer with the opposition EOD. MSD did the right thing. Flower, Strauss & Bell didn't.

We all know where we are heading now. Underarm ball, Sydney Test match all were within the rules of the book. We shouldn't have created a furore then. We can't have rules for others and exceptions for ourselves.

Have only just seen this, but followed it during the day on BBC live text. They were going on about Eng-Ind relations being ruined forever and a series destroying moment or some such bakwaas.. Winning at all costs is never a healthy attitude in sport. However I fail to see what right Strauss and Flower have to go and impose themselves in the Ind camp, when they should be chiding their batsman for being a dozy git. And they resent the power of the BCCI? Incident is nothing to do with the spirit of cricket or whatever the naysayers come up with. India should never have felt obliged to overturn the decision. Is MS Dhoni going to go to the England dressing room and ask for a reprieve the next time he has a dozy float at one outside off stump? Any indignation the England camp had should've been cast aside for the facts. Don't really give a crap if that means soured relations.
