wobblydoggy Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 :offtopic: Back to Prior' date=' off stick , swing it back to him. Or Zak's angle, agree?[/quote'] You just need to bowl tight, give him no width and stifle him
Trichromatic Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 You just need to bowl tight' date=' give him no width and stifle him[/quote'] This should work for all batsmen coming after KP. Most of them like to play shots. But our bowlers haven't done well against them. Batsmen like Cook, Strauss, Trott are more immune to tight bowling because they don't care about playing shots and have lot of patience. Probably Indian bowlers are doing opposite thing.
Talwar Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Most of the time he faces the old ball and our bowlers have not been able to get him with either reverse swing or pace. My guess is he will continue to do well unless we play a quality spinner.

Prior, likes to score as does Morgan I think what is hurting most sides who play us these days is how deep we bat
daryl1985 Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 What is it with you Indians and the world cup. It is one tournament of inferior one day cricket, not much better than the slogfest we won. The pure form of the game, Tests, is where a team is really measured and at the moment it is not good for you and likely to get worse for you when your greats retire. I agree that test cricket is the best form but due to the fact that there has been no test championship tournament until now means that the World Cup is the biggest tournament in cricket. The only thing that is greater than a world cup win is if a nation has had a great side like the Windies in the 80's or Australia in the late 90's and 2000's. That is why India take pride in being the world champions, as would the English if they were world champions. If you had asked any Indian 7 months ago if they would rather win the test series in England or the World Cup, most would have said the World Cup.

If I asked an Australian that final question, what would they say? BOTH!!! That is the great difference between India and Australia, and nothing we can do bout it.

mukul002 Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Prior was not a big problem to get rid of 4 years ago . The Indian team seem to have forgotten how to bowl to him
Cricket Tragic Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 To start with, you have to bowl straight at him. If you give him room, he will murder you on the off side.
kabira Posted August 4, 2011 Author Posted August 4, 2011 Last time around he was dismissed LBW Sreesanth out cheaply C Dhoni B Khan 42 runs c Dravid B Kumble out cheaply B RP Singh (ball of the series) out cheaply c Tendulkar B sreesanth out cheaply C Dhoni B bhajji out cheaply (Mohali) Prior had bad series in SA (LOL he is FTB as well Serani) C De Wet B Harris C Boucher B De Wet B Steyn C De Villers B Duminy (LOL) C Boucher B Steyn C Smith B Morkel He can't play swinging ball, so I guess Zaheer can get him.
Serani Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Matt Prior averages 45. Nuff said Come at him Dhoni, you 36 averaging rubbish glove work ftb. The thing with Matt Prior is that he scores more often than not when England are in trouble, check the second innings at Lords when we had just collapsed, check the 2nd innings at Trent Bidge when we lost a few wickets. Then also we have the fact he can take the game away from the opposition like he had done in the Ashes which meant england racked up them massive 600 + scores. And his keeping is pretty much spotless these days, cant remember when he last dropped a chance. Basically he is the best out there at the moment.
kabira Posted August 4, 2011 Author Posted August 4, 2011 His average is up as he is having run of his life. If Dhoni has couple not out hundred his will go up as well. You are being delusional. If Dhoni is FTB, Prior is one step better, ideal FTB. He was totally found out in SA. Dhoni has better record then him in SA.
Serani Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Prior has a better record everywhere else. wa wa wa keep crying.
kabira Posted August 4, 2011 Author Posted August 4, 2011 Yes he has better record wherever its easy to bat.. Can you tell me how did Dhoni outscored him in last 2007 series??
kabira Posted August 4, 2011 Author Posted August 4, 2011 Prior is just in good nick thats why he looks good. All your FTB tend to have such golden period.. NOt long ago, Cook was scoring hundreds left right and center. and these days he is even worse than Dhoni. I mean Dhoni is average, mediocre, but what is cook then??
Tiger80 Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Kya din aa gaye hain Matt prior is looking like a Bradman to Indian team and we need special strategy to get him out:wall:
koolkarts Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Prior has a better record everywhere else. wa wa wa keep crying. Ironically, despite the fact that he was born in SA and lived there till age 11 (not surprised haha :haha: ) his away average is the worst in SA. I think India should start drafting Saffers too. AB De Villiers instead of Raina anybody?
ganeshran Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Serani will keep gloating here now and disappear when Prior does poorly... its a good technique to follow though...
