wobblydoggy Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 It seems to be the way of things these days that test sides have three quicks, a spinner and a bit bowler unless spin is expected. In years gone by it was either four quicks and a spinner or three quicks and two spinners. These two tests for both sides have shown what happens when one bowler goes lame. Is it time for test teams to rethink their stratedgy? Discuss. We are lucky because we can play Bresnan as a fifth bowler, I mean he has scored 90 against the might India and got 5 wickets so he must be an all rounder:winky:
Trichromatic Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 England can afford to have 5 bowlers by dropping Morgan. But in long run this policy won't be successful. Bresnan and Broad are not specialist batsman and by dropping a batsmen, team might burden them with expectations. For India, they don't have any all-rounders and I don't believe that what 5 Indian bowlers will do, that cannot be done by 4 bowlers.
Yoda-esque Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Wobbly, I think the entire point of your post was to gloat about the fact that your fifth bowler (Bresnan) is better than all our regular bowlers. :winky:

As cricket grounds around the world are being prepared for high run fests the only way the bowlers have a chance is if they have fresher legs by having a 5th bowler
Number Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 England will play with 5 bowlers in next game most likely , but India doesn't have wicket taking bowlers at bench so I think they will go with 7-4..

I would like to see Taylor trialled if Trott is unfit. We c an stand him next to Tremlett for protection:haha: Bopara keeps failing even at Lions level

Jayaram_IND Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 5 bowlers is a good option if the top 6 can score big but since thats not possible i think w should stick to 4.England though should play 5 bowlers especially if they play bresnan.

Jayaram_IND Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 India doesnt have a batting order to support 5 bowlers.
