pluses First overseas series win - ? 1983 - WC, the first major star on Ind's resume 1986 - test series win (last outside subcontinent before Ind rise in 2000s) 2002 - Natwest win - set Ind nicely for 2003 WC 2007 - test win, which again put Ind in line to be # 1 side Minuses - pathetic perfo in 2004 CT - lost the title which Ind had won in 2002 - pathetic perfo in 2009 t20 WC - Ind lost it's world title. Our batsmen were criticized. Sehwag and zak were not fully fit appears as if, usually, it has been high highs or low lows in Eng for team Ind This time it appears to be no different. 2 tests to go, will the test series end on a high note for Ind from where Ind would continue to be number 1 for a long period or would we go down to lose our #1 title .... Two very interesting games are coming up!

2004 CT is not exactly a benchmark as we were just knocked out due to 1 bad game and that too against a decent Pak side. Last 2 T20 WC were a big flop for us...even though lot of our purists like to gloat how insignificant they are,it proves that our future replacements once the big 3-4 retire our backup batsmen are no where in the same league as them especially in overseas conditions.Jadeja is generally made a scapegoat but for all his mediocrity fact of the matter is our weakness against short-pitch bowling especially in the newer lot was exposed back then and I wonder why no steps were taken to fix it.

And that tour where Trueman and co hammered Ind. Could of been a tour in the 50's or 60's. Ind lost 4 duck or 5 duck.
