asterix Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 Ofcourse every indian fan is hurting seeing this pathetic performance, per hota hai !! Arey my point is you say teams playing real poor poor cricket.. we have played very very poor cricket before IPL too.. so what did people blame it on before? and about 'they not interested/they dont care'.. they wanna win as much as you want them to! Ya i just stopped watching live, because it obviously is annoying and out of frustration I dont wanna end up making topics blaming IPL and haircuts for losing the series :giggle: j/k  Daaku, I stopped watching in the morning itself. I was aghast at the sufferings of my friends in this forum hence created this topic..
Jayaram_IND Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I gues the could have some attendance record. You must play 60-75% of matches India plays in a year to be eligible to qualify to play for Ipl and the national team.Else you prove your fitness by playing FC cricket for one year(the player can play domestic FC or even county cricket.) to warrant selection for the next season else his central contract will be cancelled or suspended..Or Maybe should lose x% of Yearly fee. Some of these suggestions may look impractical but just a few suggestions.

yoda Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I love the IPL. :dontknow: If players can't handle the load and are going to breakdown playing for the country, it is a bad deal, but I will still watch the IPL.

vvvslaxman Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 non-stop cricket in heat n traveling for 2 months is bound to take its toll. cricketers should be resting and working on their fitness during that time. Viru should have had his surgery right after world cup. He could have been part of the squad from the get go. Zak should have never played IPL as he should devote his time to Test cricket since age is not on his side.
yoda Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Zak should have never played IPL as he should devote his time to Test cricket since age is not on his side. And who is going to compensate him for the $800k/year, especially as he nears retirement?
ganeshran Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 And who is going to compensate him for the $800k/year' date=' especially as he nears retirement?[/quote'] +1. We can all make lofty statements but can cricketers turn down hefty pay packets especially as age is not their side.

Jayaram_IND Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Playing for IPL when you are unfit is what worries me.
vaibhav_delhi Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 the ipl success depends on indian intl. teams success. the ipl would hav been a failure anyways if india hadnt done well in the WC.
yoda Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 the ipl success depends on indian intl. teams success. the ipl would hav been a failure anyways if india hadnt done well in the WC. that's a questionable statement. it could work both ways. when international team sucks, people could go watch their local teams hoping that at least they may do well. also, mahy of the IPL fans go there cause it is a very viable sports/entertainment option for them given the timing and the local affiliation.
Jayaram_IND Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Wait once the champions league gets over.Lets see how many are left standing.

asterix Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 +1. We can all make lofty statements but can cricketers turn down hefty pay packets especially as age is not their side. So where is their focus then? That's the problem. What about those who didn't had this IPL paypackets earlier? What was their motivation? And it shows where their focus is..
Jayaram_IND Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Can someone name 4 quality cricketers who came to the national side via ipl ?How long did he last in intl cricket?
yoda Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 for how long would the people go n watch the ipl players if the same player n team fails miserably at intl level?? Well if you look at it more closely, our international stars aren't the star performers of the IPL. People will still pay to watch other internationals like Malinga, Steyn, and Gayle and ofc our own not so star locals who are doing better than the internationals.
yoda Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Can someone name 4 quality cricketers who came to the national side via ipl ?How long did he last in intl cricket? IPL is a T20 tournament, not a platform to generate test and ODI players. That is what FC is for.
