Realitically speaking, and a question

It is now a question of when not IF we lose the number 1 ranking it is hard to swallow, but we have been dreadful this whole series and I think that hurts more than the losses themselves. England are a good team now doubt about it but losing by 200 runs 300 runs and now perhaps an innings we are making them look way better than they are even SL were competetive over here this summer. My question is as I am not too good with rankings permutations, is what would need to happen in order for us to reclaim the top ranking and how soon could it potentially happen

Yeah and for that we need to go back to the turners of the 90s rather than playing on flat wickets where it is tough to bowl teams out. Allowing jokers like McCullum to score a double in India is ridiculous.

+1 These flat tracks have done nothing good for India. Earlier we had two spinners and now we don't have even 1. It's time that we play all the home matches on rank turners, groom 1 or 2 good spinners and maintain a good record at least in India. Murli Kartik will be back in the team though. :cantstop:

Prepare a real turner and Harby will run through most teams even today.
Remember match in Mumbai? All 3 spinners were instructed just to bowl quicker and let the pitch do the rest. Australia couldn't chase even 107. :cantstop: Not that bad pitch, but at least bowler friendly.

Yeah, Karthik was excellent as well.

Win the next 3 series vs WI, Aus and Pak (if it goes through) and we will get back our no 1 rank. But for that to happen we have to avoid a 4-0 loss in this series. Will need to win the next one at Oval to save some points. Meanwhile England play Pak in UAE and SL in SL. Will surely lose points as they would be expected to beat these teams. That Pak series in UAE could hurt them especially if wickets are as flat as they were during the Pak-SA tests last year. SA play Aus and SL next and if they win the series they will move to the top of the rankings!

Or Kanpur against SA when we were 1-0 down in 2008. SA 120 all out. :cantstop:
I watched that game Live - it was a nasty track. The Saffers were complaining about it for weeks after the match :haha:
