Graeme Swann has declared himself fit for the third Test against India at Edgbaston following the blow he took to his left hand in Nottingham. Swann was struck by the ball that dismissed him in the first innings from Praveen Kumar and it hampered him for the rest of the game. Swann went on to have one of his least effective Tests, finishing with match figures of none for 97 in 15 overs, as England romped to a 319-run victory. Following the game he had further examination of the injury but all the results have come back clear although he is still in some pain. "I've had another X-ray on the hand just to check and it's not serious," he told Sky Sports News. "There's a little bother in there but nothing to affect my preparations. It might affect my batting in the nets beforehand but that will just stop me facing a few bouncers from our boys." Swann has only played a bit-part in the series to date although performed an important role at Lord's where he tied up one end to allow the quick bowlers to attack. However, with the final two matches at Edgbaston and The Oval, venues that can offer help for the spinners, he could yet play a vital part as England aim to secure the series and the No. 1 spot. England's other injury concern revolves around Jonathan Trott who damaged his left shoulder while diving at mid-off on the second day. It is understood that Trott has shown a promising recovery over the last couple of days and could yet be passed fit for his home-ground Test. He will face further assessment before the squad is named on Saturday morning. The hosts face a selection dilemma if all their injured players are fit because Tim Bresnan, who took a career-best 5 for 48 to secure victory at Trent Bridge to follow his 90, only played because Chris Tremlett picked up a hamstring strain and suffered a back spasm. Tremlett has been netting with Surrey and his recovery means Bresnan could yet be dropped despite his fine all-round show.

I'd have gone with 4 seamers, but it's pointless talking about it because Dhoni has gone on record to say he won't even consider it due to the slow over rate problem. The pick would then be between Ojha and Mishra. I'd go for the former.

Team India confident of bouncing back Despite trailing 0-2 and their world number one Test ranking at stake, India are quiet confident of turning the tables on a rampant England in the remaining two Tests of the four-match Test series. Even as the injuries and batting failures have hit India hard, Dhoni's men are not overlooking a few positives from the two defeats at Lord's and Trent Bridge. "Bhai sahib, yahan match to jeetna hai (we have to win matches)," Praveen Kumar, who has so far taken 13 wickets from two Tests at an average of 26.53, said. ndians are not ready to get caught in the swirl of negatives floating around them and are working on strengthening their belief in themselves, which alone could help them turn the tide in their favour. Teams can and do lose a match and a series. But it must not be a trigger to stamp out the good cricketers.
