Ian Bell best batsman in the world?

Nope. He has quite a few technical flaws. He hangs the bat outside the off stump, and is a sucker for leg cutters. At the same time, he leaves a huge gap between bat and pad. He is also not a great puller as his entire wt is on the front foot. He is better than many, but definitely not the best.

No doubt, he is a very good batsman but then anyone can score against pathetic Indian bowling lineup. Even Malinga, Mendis and Herath plundered this bowling attack.

He is a Very good player but its difficult to say who is the best in the world as it depends on opinions.Maybe Serani you can add a poll to see the overall picture and the general opinion.

Bell is technically sound, but KP is mentally tougher. Anyways I find Bell more classy and elegant than KP. But the test for Bell would be when he travels to the sub continent on slow, low tracks and play the spinners well. He has a very good future, and the key to his success is that he plays the ball very late, he is excellent with those cuts and drives and equally compact with those wristy flicks and whips. Al in all, I back him to well in all conditions unlike Strauss, Cook and Trott (yes I do believe that Trott will struggle on slow tracks).

He scores quicker now and this has been an important change from his early days.

I think Trott, KP and Bell would be best players for England on slow tracks. Trott is not a backfoot player. He has good technique to play anywhere.

Yes I agree.

KP shuffles across too much, although Bell does it too, but Bell's shuffle looks far more authentic than KPs :cantstop:

Well he certainly isnt an all rounder - even Dhoni is now bowling some overs. He is known first and foremost for his batting. As we all know Sehwag is one guy that cares nothing for stats averages etc. He plays every ball full throttle. Bell is still quite far behind him.
I disagree, sehwag is a thrasher who gets out playing daft shots. He can play his game in India because of slow pitches, but he comes unstuck more often abroad although he has had success abroad too

admire him all you want' date=' KP is head and shoulders the most watchable English bat.[/quote'] We are not talking watchable, we are talking best. IMHO I think Bell is a better batsman
