saneindian Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 Another 5-fer for Dinda, 5/66 this time to bowl Bengal to a win over Baroda. 37 wickets in the 6 matches of the season now. Very good consistency from him, and the apt reply to the joker selectors who didnt even pick him for any of the Challenger Squads, picking the likes of Krisnarty and Samad Fallah ahead of him.

Yeah and total 10 wickets in this match where Irfan Pathan went wicketless. Excellent effort by Bengal as they were under the threat of relegation before this match.
Needforspeed Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 Another good innings by Uday kaul (89) for Punjab against Mumbai. Wouldnt be a bad option as second wk in the upcoming Tri-Series in Australia. Parthiv has had enough chances.
Tapioca Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 Bengal and Gujarat out. Now it is between Baroda and Haryana for the third spot to the QF from Group B
saneindian Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 Quarter finalists Group A- Mumbai (A1), Karnataka (A2), Rajasthan (A3) Group B- TN (B1), MP (B2) and Haryana (B3) They will be joined by Vidarbha and Maharashtra, the likely finalists from the plate laague. The likely QF matches- Mumbai vs Vidarbha TN vs Maharashtra Karnataka vs Haryana MP vs Rajasthan Orissa ad Gujarat move down to the plate league for next season.
G_B_ Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 mumbai v viderbha an all mahrashtra (state) affair. impressive for the state to have three sides in the knockouts.

Think Vidarbha has missed out. It is Hyderabad that has gone through while Vidarbha stays in Plate! Check it out and correct your posts!
Sachinism Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 Since when did Stuart Binny get good OMG he'll want a spot as a seam bowling all-rounder

saneindian Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Ranji Trophy quarterfinals line-up still unclear SHIMOGA: At the beginning of the final round of the Ranji Trophy Elite League phase, four teams had been seeded not to play each other in the quarterfinals, the two finalists Rajasthan and Baroda being placed at number one and number eight respectively in the eight-team pool, and slated to meet the two Plate League qualifiers, who would have been slotted at numbers two and seven. Similarly the losing semifinalists from last year, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, were placed in different halves, at numbers four and five respectively, all stated positions dependent on the respective teams qualifying first. Who would play these sides wasn't made clear. Now, with Baroda not qualifying (while Rajasthan have from Group A), BCCI's CAO Prof Ratnakar Shetty revealed that Tamil Nadu, the remaining seeded team in the bottom half of the draw, have been pushed as the team to meet one of the two qualifiers from the Plate League, Hyderabad or Maharashtra. That will be made clear probably on Monday when the BCCI's tournament committee meets to make the final draw in a manner known only to them. As of now, while it is clear that Rajasthan and TN will play the Plate sides, the remaining four quarterfinalists, Group A toppers Mumbai, Karnataka (also from Group A), Haryana and Madhya Pradesh (from Group B) will have to wait till Monday to see whom they play with the where decided subsequently keeping the BCCI's alternate home and away system. POSSIBLE SCENARIOS Rajasthan vs Hyderabad or Maharashtra TN vs Hyderabad or Maharashtra Mumbai vs MP or Haryana Karnataka vs MP or Haryana http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/domestic-cricket/ranji-trophy/ranji-trophy-quarterfinals-line/up-still-unclear/articleshow/11238447.cms Wow, trust the BCCI to goof up even with scheduling. Why not let the two group winners play the two plate league finalists and A2 play B3, A3 play B2?

kabira Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 3 Southies in Q/F holy crap. No team from Gujarat......:( I don't like that two teams from Plate division get direct Q/F birth, there should be play offs..

Two promoted teams from last years plate league are in the quarters again, one of them won the trophy. Shows that the system, despite its flaws, is working well.
