Lurker Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 mariyam how does it affects you for that matter ? people leave the country because of the dumb system we have . yes ,everybody is selfish to some extent . Correction, some people do. And this includes yours truly by the way. If you are serious about digging deeper into this subject try looking around yourself and see which states most of the immigrants typically come from. These states are also typically the "richer" and "prosperous" states of India. It is rare to meet more than a handful of Biharis, or Assamese say. Compare this to Andhraites and there is a good chance that your city may have 3(or more) Telugu association going. I was hinting at this in my reply to Clarke. Without making it sound too regionalistic, it was abhored by most heartland states and its citizens to go abroad. Heck even in Gujrat Gandhi was made to do abultion after his going abroad. Today of course Green Card is a badge of honor. It may very well be that you, and few others, moved due to system not working. All powers to you. But if there is a discussion on generalization of India it is well worth to see how the migration has happened, and why it has happened. xxx
Blue Panther Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 It's funny how people like u say this stuff hiding behind monitors. Try saying this Lurker face to face with the same attitude n u wud think twice before uttering the word steroid :two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up:

Idli wada sambars suck at this dept.:haha: I am not into this North south debate...But plz check from where First commander of armed forces came... agreed generally Soldiers come from Northern India mainly...but that can be attributed to lack of job opportunity also

If Bihar/UP/Delhi or any other state of India is "gutter" doesn't mean AP is any good either .Just leave Hyderabad ,and you will see the difference .

I wonder how many south indian communites take pride in serving indian army? not much. But i do agree south indian brahmins have done well in many depts.

Its the result of the Martial culture that has been ingrained for the past so many centuries whenever invaders tried to attack. With that culture came pride. South did not have to face invasions , hence that culture is not prevalent there.
bulbul Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 I have utmost respect towards Jats,Rajpuths and Sikhs,Gujjars and Even Gurkha's... but idont think the current trend of jointing army is not like the communities mentioned above.. I can Mention one community from Karntataka ..Coorg....Field marshal kariappa belonged to that
Blue Panther Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 I am talking about Present conditions...not old days I am talkin abt present condition dude. In cricket, srikkanth, badrinath, anirudha srikkanth, sadagopan ramesh, Laxman sivaramaakrishnan, anil kumble, srinath, prasad, vvx laxman, srinath are all south brahmins. Why is that? Why do they excell in every dept? Esp money making depts. think brah, think.:--D
Yoda-esque Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Now debate going from North Vs South to Brahs Vs Non Brahs :woot:

Why do they excell in every dept? Esp money making depts. think brah, think.:--D Common let us not debate about communities.... Aishwarya ray, Shilpa shetty,Suniel Shetty,Rohith Shetty... Mutthappa Rai,Sharad Shetty,Ravi poojari.... Devegowda ,Raja,Kanimoli , Maran brothers none of these guys are Brahmins....
Blue Panther Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Its the result of the Martial culture that has been ingrained for the past so many centuries whenever invaders tried to attack. With that culture came pride. South did not have to face invasions , hence that culture is not prevalent there. South indian kingdoms did fought each other many times. The sultans did rulled most of the south india in the past. But i do agree north was invaded much more than south in the past and the culture is diff from south. Even nehru has mentioned this in his autobiography.
Yoda-esque Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Kudos to Mariyam. Great job. :hysterical:
bulbul Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Kudos to Mariyam. Great job. why blame her for our stupidity
Lurker Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Common let us not debate about communities.... Aishwarya ray, Shilpa shetty,Suniel Shetty,Rohith Shetty... Mutthappa Rai,Sharad Shetty,Ravi poojari.... Devegowda ,Raja,Kanimoli , Maran brothers none of these guys are Brahmins.... yes lets start with this one first. Although Ravi Poojari doesnt need to be mentioned in the same breath as the other two. Killing of Sharad Shetty prompted attack on Chota Rajan. Discuss.
bulbul Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 yes lets start with this one first. Although Ravi Poojari doesnt need to be mentioned in the same breath as the other two. Blue Panther Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Common let us not debate about communities.... Aishwarya ray, Shilpa shetty,Suniel Shetty,Rohith Shetty... Mutthappa Rai,Sharad Shetty,Ravi poojari.... Devegowda ,Raja,Kanimoli , Maran brothers none of these guys are Brahmins.... I was only talking abt cricket, if u want movies, or politics, i could give lot of examples too. Allright, lets not debate abt communities, but atleast u would have noticed the upper castes in south have excelled and dominated in many depts. My south indian friends in my office are all brahmins. Its unfair to say that india would have been growing 12% if it was only south and west india. Because it would not have been inclusive growth, only the upper caste in south india would have become wealthy.
Lurker Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 just want to show the Road Romeo ...discussing about communities are not good Although I do understand entirely what you mean here I would beggar to differ slightly. Discussing about communities is bad when it is meant to be bad in the first place. Having been brought up in the most cast ridden state (perhaps) of all Indian states, I have also seen how people easily call each other with a stereotypical nickname, so every Kayastha was a Laala, Brahmin a Pundit, Muslim a Miyaanji, a Punjabi was always a Sardaar, Bengali well he was a Bengali :cantstop: So I grew up with a - Abbe Miyaan Pundit ko le kar aana be. I do miss that these days.. and yes I am a casteist :secret::secret:
Yoda-esque Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Question : Do you think Mangal Pandey was a casteist or a nationalist ?
