Rightarmfast Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Purely in terms of fielding, there are very few names that can be taken in same breath as Jonty Rhodes', and Azhar's isn't one of them. Azhar's fielding skills were exaggerated by the way he quickly used to get rid of the ball (after picking) - which was not always accurate. Clearly either you are biased, or you havent watched Azhar field. And Jonty was indeed a point fielder. The incident that I was talking about was the test match at capetown, thats right . But when did anythig like that happen in ODI ? Plz enlighten me !

Lol at rating Azhar over Jonty in fielding then talking about bias. Azhar was a great fielder - no doubt about that. He took some sharp catches as well. But Jonty rhodes was in a completely different league. QLXoUPZ9o3A

vamos_rafa Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 ^ I remember this inning. He was again dismissed by Cronje. BTW, did anyone notice that @1.20 in the video, the fielder at short cover actually moved away from the ball!! That was hit pretty fiercly by Sachin.

The incident that I was talking about was the test match at capetown, thats right . But when did anythig like that happen in ODI ? Plz enlighten me ! Every opinion is biased. Azhar was my idol - in fielding - until Jonty came on the scene. I used to keep the news/pic clips - where there was small series Azhar teaching how to field, throw. And I would try to practice that. And when Jonty came on the scene, I also found it difficult to accept that Jonty was better. That was biased opinion....Today I can clearly see, objectively (ok, ok, in my perception ) - Jonty was clearly better.

Even the finals were played twice. It was washed out the 1st time it was played.

BTW' date=' did anyone notice that @1.20 in the video, the fielder at short cover actually moved away from the ball!! Also to note, Tendulkar was out on a 7-ball over.

Cricket Tragic Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Good to know someone remembers these epic Sachin matches. The game earlier in this series where we tied with Zimbabwe as also epic! Yeah Robin Singh was brilliant. :hatsoff: Prasad fecked it up off the last ball which was actually a wide.
Sachin=GOD Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 ^ man I miss that flamboyant Sachin.hes still awesome.but those days it was something else the kind of cricket he played in the 90s was just beyond anything I have ever seen on a cricket field :adore: Today we talk of destructive batsmen like Gayle, Sehwag, Pollard, Gilchrist, Jayasuriya etc but the way Goddy batted in that period - these guys can't think of doing that even in their dreams. But I like version 2.0 also - more calculative but quite a few shots from that era are still there and plays many more long innings.
