what about increasing number of overs to 60 and then having 2 innings of 30 overs each :hmmm:
what about time...better to go for 2 x 20

The powerplay overs will remain the same as before. Its not 25 overs each side' date=' its 50 overs. The bowlers will get more rest. Dunno where the bashing part comes from[/quote'] 2 innings of 25 overs each, that is what i meant.obviously the batsmen will go after the bowlers, considering the flat wickets that we get

2x20 would make the ODI format redundant and it would be just 2 T20 matches rolled into one and the game of cricket does not want any more of T20 than is already present currently.

All this is old news anyway' date=' isn't it? [b']I think this was before the ICC meeting where they announced all the changes from the 1st of October. I don't remember when the meeting was.
^in June this year. And I think at that time he proposed 2 innings of 20 overs each in the domestic 40 overs game.

ICC dismisses Tendulkar's ODI proposal

COLOMBO: The ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat on Wednesday shot down Sachin Tendulkar's proposed changes in the ODI format making it a four innings 25-over-affair rather than current 50-over format. "There is no need to change the format," Lorgat told reporters at a breakfast interaction. Tendulkar, a prolific run-scorer in ODIs with over 18,000 runs, 48 centuries and 95 half centuries had written a letter to Lorgat, seeking a radical switch from two 50-over innings to four phased out innings of 25 overs each - method tried in Australian domestic cricket. "We did receive a written proposal from Sachin, but that was a long time back. I myself have spoken to him many times about it, the last one as recent as during the World Cup in April. The success of the tournament showed that the 50-over format was sound in health and there was no need for dramatic changes," Lorgat added. He further added," The executive board meeting after the World Cup decided that the present format was doing well. That has not changed," Lorgat stressed. The senior batsman had argued that four alternate innings of 25 overs would be a fair way to balance the advantage gained by the team which won the toss in conditions such as bad weather, sub-quality pitches which historically had proven that a match can virtually be decided by the toss of a coin. Lorgat also commented on another point of contention with India -the DRS. He thought the system was working well despite Indian dislike towards it. "Even the best of umpires have a success rate of 95 per cent. We see a five per cent improvement because of the UDRS while there can be 1 per cent margin for error. The question is if we want to sacrifice 5 per cent for 1 per cent?," Lorgat questioned.

Ponka ne dekha mauka, aur maara chhakka.....Ponka super pwned Ganesh.. :)) Of all the people, SRT has endured most ODIs. There has to be very good reason for turning down his suggestion - esp when he does not speak so often.

Ponka :cantstop: ' date=' uber pwnage for Ganno :D[/quote'] :headshake: It was not clear whether SRT meant continuation of the same innings or separate two innings. It turns out that its separate innings, not a continuation. Most on this thread thought otherwise. (Thanks rkt for pointing Aakash Chopra's tweets) nlIWu.jpg

my proposals: 1) 2x20 overs innings for each team but it should be continuous (in the second inning they should carry on from where they left off in the first inning that includes the wickets that had fallen). 2) in each inning the first four overs should be compulsory power play, then the batting and the bowling side can choose two overs each for their power play. 3) two bouncers should be allowed per over. 4) maximum of 5 overs per bowler in each inning. 5) new ball should be used at the start of each inning. 6) 10 minutes break between innings. 7) each side should have played one inning at least to decide the result in case of bad weather, if not then it should be declared as no result. D/L method should only be used if the match is affected by the bad weather in the second innings.

Add: No bowlers above 140 Kph be allowed to play. The moment they bowl more that 140 Kph, the umpire should call a No Ball. India's case the Captain/WK might be ready to help the umpires in calling the No-Ball..
