The rights cover non-standard TV, Internet as well as the mobile domain. STAR Cricket, the dedicated 24x7 cricket channel from the ESPN STAR Sports bouquet, will broadcast the action live and exclusive Kowloon Cricket Club on October 29 and 30, a release said. The 2011 edition of the tournament will have 12 teams. The All Stars have been drawn with Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Scotland in Pool A. Defending champions Australia are in Pool B with England, Bangladesh and Ireland while Pool C comprises last year's losing finalists Pakistan, South Africa, India and Hong Kong. Some of the leading stars who would be seen in action include Sanath Jayasuriya, Shahid Afridi, Shaun Tait, Herschelle Gibbs, Abdul Razzaq, Jacob Oram and Ryan Ten Doeschate of The Netherlands. The Indian team for the tournament is yet to be announced.

Former Hong Kong coach Singh was at the helm of the only Indian side to win the title, when he played a match-winning role to lead the crowd favourites to a four-wicket triumph over the West Indies in the 2005 Cup final. Wicketkeeper-batsman Karthik will hope to emulate that feat with a new-look India team that will be banking on a mix of youth and experience to pull off what would undoubtedly be a popular win with the hordes of Indian fans. Karthik will be at the helm of a side that includes Ranji Trophy players Shalabh Srivastava, Sridhran Sriram, Vignesh Ganapathy, Mayank Agarwal, Manvidner Basla and Rajoo Bhaktal. Much will depend on Karthik, who has played 23 tests and 45 one-day internationals for India, and the feisty batsman could take a leaf out of Singh’s book. In 2005, Singh led from the front, scoring an invaluable unbeaten 34 in the final as well as excelling in the field with some tidy wicket-keeping. Prior to 2005, India had twice been losing finalists in the Cup competition (1992 and 1996), and the Chennai-born Karthik will be hoping his side can go all the way this time. All eyes will be on Agarwal, 20, an explosive right-hand opening batsman from Bangalore who has modelled his style of play on Virender Sehwag. Agarwal toured Australia in 2009 with the U-19 side and hit a match-winning 160 in a one-dayer. Another player to watch out for is opening batsman Bisla, who has been an IPL regular since 2009. Bisla, who now plays for the Kolkota Knight Riders, has also represented India at the Under-19 level. Defending champions Australia meanwhile will pin their hopes on a group of youngsters including Alister McDermott, the son of former test fast bowler Craig McDermott. Australia returns aiming to defend the title they won in dramatic fashion last year, and will pin their hopes on a clutch of young guns including the 20-year-old McDermott, who will be hoping to one day emulate the illustrious career of his father. The younger McDermott, like his senior, is a right-arm fast-medium bowler who turns out for Queensland. He made his first-class debut for the state team against the touring West Indies as a teenager two years ago. Having already represented Australia at under-19 level, Alister will be eager to make an impact at the Karp Group Hong Kong Sixes as it will give him exposure at an international level. Two other youngsters to watch out for are Liam Davis, an opening batsman, and Scott Coyte, a right-arm fast-medium bowler. The Hong Kong Cricket Association has also announced that iconic global cricket brand Woodworm has thrown its weight behind the All Stars side participating at the Sixes. A left-handed batsman, Chawla was still a teenager when he made his test debut against England, becoming the second youngest Indian star to do so after Tendulkar. While a bright future still awaits Chawla, Vincent has been there and done it. A pugnacious batsman, Vincent had an outstanding start to his test career scoring a century and a half-century on his debut in the 2000-01 series against Australia. Sir john Posted October 24, 2011 Author Posted October 24, 2011 India's RP Singh to swing for Woodworm All Stars team at KARP Group Hong Kong Sixes Indian seamer Rudra Pratap Singh, simply known as RP, has been called up at the last-minute into the Woodworm All Stars and will replace Australian Shaun Tait in the team for the Karp Group Hong Kong Sixes. Left-arm fast-medium Singh was a natural choice to fill the shoes of Tait who has withdrawn from the October 28-30 tournament at the Kowloon Cricket Club due to a troubled shoulder. A member of the Indian team on the recent tour to England, Singh can swing the ball both ways. With his speciality being able to bring the ball into the right-hander, he is bound to be a more than useful replacement for Tait. He has played 14 tests and 58 one-day internationals for India and his best performance was a five-wicket haul at Lord’s against England in the 2007 series. Singh could prove to be handful for the opposition at the Kowloon Cricket Club. “It is sad that Shaun Tait will be unavailable due to injury, but if there was anyone who could fill his shoes, then it is RP Singh. We have watched him in action and I’m sure he will be a big hit in Hong Kong,” said Shahzada Saleem, president of the Hong Kong Cricket Association. Singh’s presence will add an extra zip to the Woodworm All Stars who will be going in search of a first ever win at the Hong Kong Sixes.
