He was out of the England odi tour because of concussion and vision problems but right now I see he is playing in Champions league' date=' must be some kind of magic that makes sure players like Harbhajan and Gambhir recover magically before IPL and Champions league :giggle:[/quote'] I think he got jaadu ki jhappi from Sharukh Khan lol

He was injured about a month back.......so he cant recover and play a few matches.......and then be match fit for ENG series.......
Look at the number of ODIs/Test he has missed in the last 15 months due to injuries Missed the ODI series vs SA Missed 2 tests in SL (post IPL) Missed the Tri series vs SL and NZ (post IPL) Missed the Bangalore test vs Aus Missed the AUs ODIs Missed the Durban test vs SA Missed the ODI series vs SA Missed the WI tour Missed the 2nd test vs Eng Missed the ODI series vsEngland 8 tests and 30 ODIs missed in the last 18 months or so. For someone whom we see as our next captain and is at the peak of his career, thats way too many games missed due to injuries. His ODI form hasn't suffered much but in these 18+ months, he has had a massive drop in his test runs. An avg of only 32 after the highs of 2008 and 2009. No one will have a problem him playing IPL and CL if he was fully fit. But to see him repeat the same mistake which he made in the IPL (playing the semi final against medical advice) is poor and deserves criticism especially after a series where we have seen so many of our players break down and murmurs of scheduling, excess cricket etc. Also remember, just a week ago he had himself said he was not yet allowed to do any physical activity. Can't believe that he is still being allowed to even play in this high pressure situation.

Actually gambhir played in IPL despite being injured .. So he never got the time to recover .. Cos of which he suffered in england .. And now he is ready to play clt20 without getting fit properly .. Tell u something abt their commitment .. And btw Bhajji if sachin was such an inspiration then what happened in england?? Wasn't he in the dressing room at tht time?? And for Sachin if he wanna give some inspiration then y didn't he gave some of it to Indian team by staying in england .. Wht is this nonsense going on .. Every player, every board member of BCCI is hell bent to destroy indian cricket ..

I thought he was not going to be playing CL and excused himself from it. Alas..I can understand why though, cricket is still profession for him and he needs to earn as much as he can while he still can play. Sadly for India his focus has shifted unfortunately.

Funny that not one IPL or CLt20 game was missed.

:WTF: ^ He got injured while playing in South Africa and England, now how can you blame him for that? He was ready and unfortunately he got injured while playing.
In SA the injury he suffered was the shoulder injury he has been struggling with for so many months now. it's this shoulder injury which has time and again bothered him as he has never given it the proper time to heal before coming back. And if you read my post, I am not saying IPl or CL is to be blamed. All I am saying is someone who has been injured so often needs to be a little more serious about his own injury management and playing IPL and CL despite carrying those injuries doesn't help at all. I was one of those defending him when he played IPL despite the injury. But when you see him playing even in the CL despite the injury, having missed the entire WI tour and then most of the Eng tour, questions will be asked and deservingly so.

http://www.rediff.com/cricket/slide-show/slide-show-1-champions-league-t20-gambhir-reveals-he-is-100-percent-fit/20110926.htm Gambhir reveals he is '100 percent fit' Indian opener and Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir insisted that he has completely recovered from the concussion he sustained during the recent tour of England. "I am 100 per cent fit and that is why I was playing," he said after the Kolkata Knight Riders lost to Somerset by five wickets on Sunday. Gambhir was out for a duck in his IPL team's loss to Somerset in the Champions League Twenty20. Gambhir, who didn't compete in the event's qualifying stages due to the concussion, said his team would look to rectify the mistakes made in the match against Somerset. "The way they batted in the first six overs, it took the game away from us. But I think we did really well to take the game to the last over. So, there are a lot of positives from this game. Hopefully, we don't make the same mistakes that we made today. Hopefully, we will try and come back hard," he said. Gambhir said 161 runs made by his team against Somerset was a good total. "162 runs is a good total on the board and Yousuf (Pathan) batted well. Hopefully, we can make 162 again; I have a lot of confidence in our bowlers. Today, they batted really well and all credit goes to Somerset," he said. "I think, we have got three more games. Hopefully, we can will three and gear to the semi-finals. Sometimes, when you know that you have got to win all, you go out and give everything. We can really bounce back, I have confidence in this squad," Gambhir said. Meanwhile, Somerset Captain Alfonso Thomas expressed happiness over his team winning the match against Kolkata Knight Riders. "Hyderabad has become a home away from home. It has been good for us to win three (games) it is good," he said. Asked if he still considered his team to be underdogs as he did earlier, Thomas said he prefers it that ways as the pressure is easier to handle. "We certainly believe that we can win. Like I always said we respect the opposition but don't fear anybody. Obviously, we play to win," he said.

Hats off to him for his innings in the WC final. No doubt that he played a major role. But if he was injured then why did he play the IPL immediately after the WC? I think its a combination of $$ (kkr paid over 2million USD for him) and BCCI forcing players to play the IPL. The players might not have a say in this. Another example, Dhoni could have rested during the IPL and played the West Indies test series. Same goes for Zak, SRT. Why miss a test series?

I am 100 per cent fit: Gambhir :woot:

HYDERABAD: Indian opener and Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir insisted that he has completely recovered from the concussion he sustained during the recent tour of England even though he was out for a duck in his IPL team's loss to Somerset in the Champions League Twenty20. "I am 100 per cent fit and that is why I was playing," he told reporters in the post-match press conference after the Kolkata Knight Riders lost to Somerset by five wickets last night. Of course he's "fit" now. Gave the impression during the Eng tour that he seriously injured and would be aout of action for a while Yet a couple of weeks later he is fit and raring to go. Sign of the times.

It was a concussion... it was clear from the beginning that it was not a very serious injury unlike Harby's (supposed) abdominal strain which actually takes a long time to heal. He could have very well played England ODIs and ended up aggravating the problem - instead he came back and recuperated. If he is declared unfit for the coming Eng home ODIs then all your criticisms would be valid. As it stands now, that is not the case. Gambhir has played a huge hand in two of our biggest international cricketing achievements in the last 4 years. He scored half the runs in the WorldT20 final and one third of the runs in our world cup chase, both played in high pressure situations for the country, not for his personal coffers. One bad series and the guns are out against him.
