Umesh vs Aaron

Guyzz, Both these youngsters representing ROI bowling in tandem was refreshing to see in domestic circuit. Also gave a opportunity to compare. Umesh looked a lot better bowler than Aaron. Good amount of thought went into his bowling. He seems to be a lot better bowler than I last saw him in Zimbabwe tour. He has a better control on line and length and more importantly some brain went into his bowling. He was varying his line and length quite smartly, however, sometimes predictable. But he has outfoxed batsmen few times. I thought he is someone who will come and bowl fast without any brains. But i was pleasantly surprised. Considering the lack of pace attack for India. he should be given some chances. Probably from 2 years from now, with enough chances in international cricket, he can be a potent bowler. Btw, he has some pace a well, consistently bowling over 138kmph. There are only few bowlers in the world who would set-up a batsmen and take wickets. I think Mcgrath and Zaheer used to do these quite consistently. I wish we will produce some pacers like them in near future. Never know, given some chances, Umesh might take a leaf out of them and serve India.

Add another name there Abu Nechim. Hitting 140 kmph+ consistently' date=' even though its just a t20 match.[/quote'] Lol. Abu Nechin is barely right arm fast medium. Bowls the speeds that ZK/Nehra bowl these days. Regarding Yadav and Aaron, Yadav definitely looks more promising. He does tend to think more and Aaron needs some more time to develop. Although I think Aaron is quicker out of the two.

I hope you watched him bowl in the Cl today. peak speed of 147 kmph, average of around 140 kmph. The kid has got some poetential.

It is all about confidence IMO. In India fast bowlers lack confidence of captain and team management to bowl fast and then they try to control their pace rather than going for bowling quick and they control their pace then they lose the pace they could have bowled with time when they don't use fast twitch fibers in bowling fast.

Maybe it was just one of those days today for him.

Yes, you are right. It is easy to bowl 150 in 4 overs. Every one drops pace when they have to bowl 20 overs in a day whether it is Nechim, Yadav, Aaron, Cummins, Brett Lee, or Actor.

There is no pacer who does not have an injury issue and it is not about who hits fastest. I believe any bowler who can bowl 140K at good consistent line and length and can move the ball trouble the batsman. Brett Lee and Akthar at their peak age were certainly faster than Yadav, Aaron, and Cummins, but these guys are still fast enough to trouble any one if they are consistent and these guys are still learning and can be called kids, especially Aaron and Cummins. I saw Brett Lee when he was 21 and he was as quick as Aaron, not much faster.

Both have good actions , run ups, are built to be fast bowlers, seem agressive, can bowl 140 to 150 , although I have seen Varun bowl much faster and better last season, Umesh seems to have improved alot, these guys need to be in our test squad, no if's and but's.They both have excellent seam position, , bounce, wrist action, can bowl long spells, seem mature, all the ingredients to be successfull, let them be counted for test and not be wasted or judged based on odi , t20 , they have more potential then RP , V KUMAR, UNADKAT,P KUMAR SO PLAN AHEAD PREPARE THEM FOR TEST.After them we should look for Pankaj Singh, Sudeep Tyagi , Rahul Shukla, Pawan Suyal , Gony , VRV,P Parmeswaram, TO BUILD OUR PACE STOCKS FOR TEST'S, LET mUNAF, p KUMAR, PLAY ODI'S WITH NEHRA, ZAHEER , Dinda, till these youngsters learn their art reach a level, test matches r more suitable and players with more natural abilities can be raw and successfull whereas one days you have to either be very crafty or a master like Dale to be successfull ,also Dhoni is very defensive and selectors pick players for 2 one dayers and when hit for runs they are dumped so that is a risk compared to test's.

so what T20 is related to the discussion. Yadav and Aaron have bowled quick even in One day matches and that was one day domestic match when I Saw Brett Lee first.

you know what i mean...still ill try to explain again... 1.with T20 more injuries possible for Phaast bowlers 2.They dont have to go full throttle in Intnational matches :winky:

This is one of the ridiculous thing I have heard a lot of times. How a fast bowler can be injured bowling 4 overs in a match in a day. T20 is one of the easiest format for fast bowlers in terms of work load and fatigue. It is different if they get injured while fielding, but bowling 4 overs a day and total 56 overs over one and a half month is not big deal. Give me that, I will be the happiest fast bowler. You know Ishant alone bowled 50+ overs at Lords test in 5 days and in 50 days of IPL, he bowled 50 overs. Now tell what is tiring? bowling 50 overs in a test with no real rest in 2-3 days of a 5-day test or 50 overs in 50 days with enough off days in between.

common man who is talking about just 4 overs ...its 14 to 16 matches.... these are the words of SA Selctors convenor Andrew hudson...i thought he is a professional
"The Champions League hasn't been kind to us," Hudson said. "Last year we lost Dale Steyn, Jacques Kallis and Albie Morkel and we can only hope we don't suffer more." Steyn fell on his head after backpedalling to take a catch while Kallis sustained a back injury and Morkel :offtopic:strained his side, which caused the trio to miss out on matches against Zimbabwe. With a more important series, against Australia, coming this year, Hudson hoped that the casualties will not mount, with 10 days remaining in the Champions League, but feared they may have to brace for more. "What we are realising is that T20 is hard on players, it's intense," Hudson said. "We're going to have accept that we will get injuries."

T20 IPL players have to deal wtih alot of pressure, it is pretty easy to go for 20 runs in an over , games are very fast paced, even t20 takes a huge toll on the body and wears out players mentally, talented bowlers would rather prefer bowling in test's same for classy batsmen, I have seen more injuries in t20 then test's generally.

14 matches are played in the time of 50 days and one match has 80-90 minutes of fielding only. it means 1260 minutes( 21 hours in total). While in a test there are total 30 hours of play in 5 days and a player spend 10-15 hours easily on the field only in 5 days in comparison to 21 hours in 50 days. Bowling 20 overs in a day is more tiring rather than just spending 6 hours and fielding like a batsman does who only fields. Regarding injuries to SA players, freak injuries can happen any where.
