MCcricket Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 That is what I doubt. Neo should simply sell its feed to the other channels' date=' how can they let speed guns of those other broadcasters be on the field? If speed guns can be on the field, a lot of other peripheral equipment can be on the field as well. And it is ridiculous to have five different speeds of the same delivery from five different broadcasters; if that happens it will simply devalue the quality of the broadcast.[/quote'] That is a common norm , I give up , u just dont get it mann sorry , I am done explaining to u.:fishing::wall:

MCcricket Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 iq reduced :giggle: lol What it means is that NEO equipment is not the best, their slow mo , snicko, speed guns are not that good, SKY, CHANNEL 9, SA broadcasting uses better equipment , which gives more accurate readings.

It is the same feed that you get in England or Australia on a different channel and in India on a different channel, with different commentators. The other equipments might vary

chainsmoker Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Oye Chetan Sharma on Neo Cric on Dial C for Crciket :bye:
Magneto Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 I just checked the highlights of the 4th ODI in Indore, and the speeds given on NEO and the speeds given on the commentary of Cricinfo are exactly the same. The only difference is that Cricinfo gives the speeds to the exact decimal point, whereas NEO rounds it up to the next digit (for example, what is 145.6 at Cricinfo would be 146 at NeO, and what would be 139.2 at Cricinfo would be 139 at Neo). Therefore, the point that two different speeds are being shown is completely INACCURATE. So, there are two conclusions: a) There is only one speed gun (that belongs to NEO), and somehow Cricinfo has an arrangement with them so that they know the exact speed per decimal poiny. Neo does not show per decimal point just to simplify coverage. b) The speed gun through which Cricinfo picks up the speeds at decimal points belongs to another broadcaster, but even then, since both speed guns show the same speed, they are equal reliable or unreliable. Nothing to suggest that Neo's speed guns are inferior.
chainsmoker Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 ^ Don't worry abt decimal points. Its that old school formula which is applied everywhere i.e. upto 0.5 is the previous no and more than 0.5 is the next no. Example 144.4 or even 144.5 will be shown as 144 K and 144.6 to 145 will be shown as 145

The whole point of the discussion are: a) Where does Cricinfo get its speeds from? b) Do other broadcasters have their speed guns on the field? c) Is there is a huge disparity between Neo's speed guns and the other broadcaster's speed guns (in case they have a speed gun on the field)? The 3rd point is sorted in a way looking at the highlights and comparing them with the commentary, but the first two are yet not sorted.
Trundler27 Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 hmmm dhudat has stirred quite a controversy i dare say.... Unfortunately, he doesn't have any wickets to show for his performance today... Let's watch out the entire game and see what he does. On a side note: With all the talk about the accuracy of speed guns, I'm seriously thinking that I should suggest my buddy challenge the speeding ticket he got recently for going over the limit... He should use the argument that you caught me speeding with an international speed gun that is 5 - 10 ks faster than neo's speed gun.... so he was probably within the limit :giggle:

Nothing to suggest that Neo's speed guns are inferior. No,it isnt case always.Check this out for example: Aaron's 3 wickets at Wankhede.Compare Neo's speed and Cricinfo's speed, there is a difference. Neo: uxd_rKZAH6k Speeds of the wickets are: 141,141 and 142. Where as cricinfo speeds are: Aaron to Borthwick, OUT, 143.3 kph, gone! A cracking delivery and Aaron gets his first ODI wicket as he takes out Borthwick's off stump. It may have kept a fraction low but the batsman was caught on the back foot Aaron to Meaker, OUT, 142.1 kph, superb! Terrific delivery from Aaron rips out Meaker's leg stump. It had a helping hand from the pads as it swung in late, but the pace is the eye-catching aspect of his performance Aaron to Bresnan, OUT, 141.7 kph, it's all over! What a beauty to end the innings as this nips past Bresnan's outside edge and clips off stump. There's a slight delay before Aaron notices then he celebrates Only 3rd one is similar, other 2 are not. So,definately your 2nd point is correct, cricinfo gets its speed from different broadcaster but which one is more accurate is debatable.

SA broadcasting,SKY, Channel 9 cover these games for the viewers in their country,so the Indian broadcasting company sells it overseas, broadcast for that country or regions to these broadcaster,if u watch cricket on Neo, also same games if broadcasted by SKY, Channel9 , u will see different coverage, commentators, speeed guns, technology. If u watch cricket on Willowtv online, ucan watch from different sources, broadcasters mostly,I am not sure if in India what u watch. In UK OR USA if u get a speeding ticket, u have a lawyer or u know enough , first thing u can ask for is a report on the speed gun to check if it was not faulty , when calibration was done,if a cop cannot provide that then u get off. http://www.cricketweb.net/forum/cricket-chat/45459-should-there-uniform-speed-gun.html for more info
express bowling Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 I said that too. But I personally hate slingshot actions; the smoother it looks the more I like it. Aesthetics rules! The more pertinent question is -- which action and which bowler does the batsman dislike ? :winky:
Magneto Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 The more pertinent question is -- which action and which bowler does the batsman dislike ? :winky: Mukund and Badri really liked playing him, and I am sure even Karthik will like playing him tomorrow. On the topic of these fugly slingers, only a few of them get any success at the Test level - presently only Malinga is the one who's feared, and he too has given up on Tests. Thomson remains the only slinger to have been feared and respected, and I don't consider Tait or Edwards threatening for the big boys.

But every sportsman has his own style with which he is comfortable. His action should not be changed. There is a possibility that if he improves himself as a bowler, his action might act as a variation to the normal action pacers. We should not try to put all players in the same mould. Unorthodox players can be extremely good for the team if used properly and in limited numbers; as Sehwag, Murali, B.Chandrashekhar, Malinga etc have proved. Dudhat bowled on a flat deck. Moreover the lad seems to have problems landing the ball on the seam. Unless he learns this he will face difficulty as his pace in the air would not get converted to pace off the pitch and seam movement.
