Blue Panther Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 8SHmWxrE5YE New Delhi, Oct 12 (IANS) Senior lawyer and Team Anna member Prashant Bhushan was bashed up by three youths in his Supreme Court chamber here Wednesday. He blamed the assault, captured by a TV crew, on the right-wing outfit Sri Ram Sene. One of the attackers was held. Three youths stormed into BhushanÃÔ chamber and one of them, identified as Inder Verma, started beating him up. Verma, later on, was overpowered by lawyers and others present in the room, TV visuals showed. The youths said they objected to his comments on Kashmir, Bhushan said later. õhe accused, Inder Verma, has been arrested from the Supreme Court premises and his two accomplices Vishnu Gupta and Tejender Pal are on the run, said a senior police official. õhey were Sri Ram Sene activists. They are intolerant, a visibly shaken Bhushan told IANS. He has lodged a first information report with police. Home Minister P. Chidambaram, condemning the attack, said: ïobody has the right to take law in their hands and I have asked Delhi Police to take appropriate action against the people involved in the attack. Inder Verma, who is said to be Sri Ram SeneÃÔ Delhi unit president, told reporters: øe had gone to seek his response about his statement on Kashmir. He had talked about giving away Kashmir to Pakistan, which we we strongly protest. ItÃÔ an insult to martyrs and this will not be tolerated in India. Sri Ram Sene, a Karnataka based right-wing outfit, has taken the responsibility for the attack. äomments made by Prashant Bhushan on Jammu and Kashmir were anti-national and anyone who makes such comments will not be spared, Shri Ram SeneÃÔ state unit general secretary Tushar Agarwal told IANS. TV channel TIMES NOW, which showed visuals of the incident, said its crew was with Prashant Bhushan at the time for his comments on the Lokpal bill. Bhushan was taken to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where doctors said he has not received major injuries. http://www.inewsone.com/2011/10/12/prashant-bhushan-attacked-one-held-2/82897

1983-2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Sri Ram Sena activists attacked me: Prashant Bhushan Lawyer-activist Prashant Bhushan on Wednesday accused right-wing group Sri Ram Sene of being responsible for the assault on him and demanded a ban as well as social boycott of the outfit. "This is an organisation which needs to be socially boycotted and perhaps banned by the Government. Such an organisation has no right to exist legally," Bhushan said addressing a press conference. "Sriram Sene is known for its goondaism and unprovoked assault on unarmed people. This is their trademark which they had showed in Mangalore when they beat up many boys and girls outside some restaurants and pubs. They have been known to beat up girls who wear skirts," he said. Giving an account of the assault on him, he said a group of three youths, one claiming to be the state chief of the outfit, barged into his chamber and assaulted him with "fists and kicks". "They were shouting something about Kashmir but did not bother to discuss anything with me," he said. Bhushan said the youth who was arrested has been identified as one Indervir who claims to be the state president of Sri Ram Sene. Asking supporters and well wishers not to resort to any violence against members of the Sri Ram Sene, he said answer to violence is not violence. "There will be legal proceedings against these people. One of them has been arrested...There should be legal proceedings but certainly not violence against the members of the organisation," he said. Comparing the modus operandi of the outfit with that of Hitler's Germany, he said strong action should be taken against such elements. "In Hitler's Germany, storm troopers go out and beat anybody who do not agree with them. These kind of things should be stopped," he said. http://www.hindustantimes.com/Shri-Ram-Sena-activists-attacked-me-Prashant-Bhushan/Article1-756532.aspxSri Ram Sena activists attacked me: Prashant Bhushan OxS4PsAnyK0
