Gambhir very underrated' date='[b'] he plays for the team not his average, very good with unsettling the bowlers , taking initiative, g8 in all forms of cricket.
How the hell does one play for average? Tell me the name of one Indian player who does? Even after watching years of cricket people still come with such stupid comments

It is the player who takes the initiative , plays more attacking , according to the situation , either to dominate the best bowler or keep up with the scoring rate.Sehwag , Gambhir, Dhoni,do it better then anyone else in the team , especially in test's. Sehwag would hit a six on 197 same with Gambhir, whenever he has to face a challenge or a tough tour or is verbally abused he raises his game , better then most other players, especially good in the second innings of a test match where most Indian players have a big disparity in averages , Tendulkar has improved his 2 nd inning's average in last 2 to 3 years and won a few test matches for us, I believe Gambhir , Sehwag are bigger test match winners for India then any other players.Tendulkar no doubt is the best batsmen of this era, but he took a long time to mature as a match winner in test's , which he started doing in last 3 years. Lara and Waugh took that jump much earlier in their career, Laxman to me is one of the most talented, he never got to bat at his spot also was shunned in one dayers , but he is a match winner, saved many games for us, Dravid plays at his own pace , you cannot expect him to dominate and win a test match ,he has his own game.Yuvraj can do that but he is not comfortable against spin.

You might want to check the stats on hitting a six to get to a hundred (or double, triple). :cantstop:

Sehwag has single handedly won us test matches with his scores of 150 plus at a phenomenol strike rate, he takes the game away in a session, yes his average in 2 nd innings is not that g8 , but Sehwag is more influential as one player in deciding the fate of a test match then any other Indian player, even Ian Chappel feels the same way.One should follow cricket , but not blindly , Tendulkar was a very average captain and a very good test player,he did not single handedly win us or saved many test's , say for in the last 3 to 4 years.Sehwag has done it all his career, Gambhir is a very good reader of the game, also plays according to the requirements , better then any one else, even at the risk of being more daring for teams cause.

Gambhir is one of the most grittiest players to have played for India, who paces his innings very well, especially when he is needed at the crease. Who can forget the Final of the 2011 World Cup. :isalute:

Then the 2500 qualification would be too high because you are decreasing the matches being filtered. Dhoni's average is 105 in this criteria RKKcp.png

Its not "adjusted". The 2500 run qualification would be too high if you are considering only won matches. Inzi and Anwar both just make the cut themselves.

I agree... and honestly speaking I consider Dhoni the culprit who broke the trend of not chasing 7+ ReqRR against Pakistan in final overs... (or may be introducing a trend to chase anything without worrying of req rate). I remember there was a time when even a 6+ reqRR in last few overs was considered safe for Pakistan to defend... but it was I think in 2006 when India visited Pakistan... Dhoni was just unbelievable, he made it look very simple while chasing even an 8+ req rate in final overs... since then nothing really is safe for Pakistan to defend :((

 Too good responses from CT..:two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up: And why make it Sachin bashing thread. Let it be what it was meant for - appreciation of one of the most gutsy Indian batsmen, Gambhir.

It was meant to emphasize his value, I was stating the fact, jingoism and paranoia is a common trait.
