Strictly speaking, the term "Third world" refers to countries that didn't become lapdogs of either the US or Russia during the Cold War. Clearly, it's a very self-centred way of looking at the world. As for those who use this term to refer to poor countries, no ****, their countries are the reason many of these countries are poor in the first place. I have always thought of it as a relative term. Like in grammar you have a first person, second person and third person. The first person is yourself, the second person is who you are talking to and the third person is the outsider. Similarly from an American's perspective, his country and its allies are the first world, the opposing faction being the second world and the neutral countries being the third world. Like I said it's a very self-centred way of looking at the world and only shows the level of prejudice, ungratefulness and hypocrisy of the countries to which people who use such classifications belong to, especially because majority of Earth's population probably lives in these unaligned countries.

The world cup is considered to be the pinnacle in every major sport, including Cricket. The ICC itself considers the ODI world cup and the Champions Trophy to be the most important tournaments in Cricket. The world T20 is more like a mini world cup since it's held once every couple of years as opposed to once in 4 years. Australia have by far been the best team winning 4 world cups and 2 champs trophies. India have won 2 world cups, a champions trophy and a world T20, West Indies have won 2 world cups and a champions trophy, Sri Lanka have won a world cup and a champions trophy, Pakistan have won a world cup and a world T20, South Africa and New Zealand have won a champions trophy each. ALL ENGLAND HAVE MANAGED IS A WORLD T20 DESPITE INVENTING THE GAME OF CRICKET, HOSTING MORE ICC TOURNAMENTS THAN ANY OTHER NATION AND APPARENTLY HAVING "World-Class academies". By the way, all the "third world" countries have been way more successful than England. Even a team like Sri Lanka which was a minnow until couple of decades ago has a world cup to show. It was funny how many England supporters thought their useless team would win the world cup and after they got owned in typical fashion, they said England never took limited overs cricket seriously. Even in test cricket, for about 15 years or so prior to 2005 England never really was one of the top sides. Australia was far ahead of everyone else followed by India and South Africa. As of now, India have still been the no.1 test team for 20 months whereas England have only been there for 2 months, despite being competitive in only 1 format of the game. I've always thought the reason why England, Ireland and Scotland have separate sports teams instead of just one UK team is because they know they're not good enough to win anything so they send several teams hoping one of them manages to win a world cup or something. Imagine if India were to send 4 teams representing each zone. I love how England supporters were posting comments on cricinfo on how the BCCI "bought" this year's world cup. Their media and commentators constantly accuse the BCCI of being bullies even though it was their board that had a VETO in the ICC at one point. To me England are just a bunch of sore losers and the biggest hypocrites on the planet. Anyway, I'd rather support a team that loses every single test match and bilateral series it plays as long as it manages to win important tournaments like world cups and champions trophies than a team like England that wins insignificant matches but consistently fails at the big stage. Even with our "unfit psyche" and virtually no genuinely fast bowlers we have been a far more successful team than England. tl dr; STFU until England wins something significant at the world stage, the fact that you invented cricket and have won virtually no ICC cup is pathetic.

In modern times India has a better head-to-head record against England than England does against India and even overall like I said earlier, India has been a much more successful team that has won MANY more ICC trophies. Before this year's England tour even started, there were articles on Cricinfo by English commentators claiming England were the no.1 team because India were only strong at home. The last time India won a test series in England was in 2007, they also lost the ODI series that followed 2-3. England on the other hand haven't won a series in India since the 1980's, the last time they toured India in 2008 they were thrashed in all formats of the game. If England get whitewashed again in this ODI series it will be the second time in the last 3 years that this has happened. Whenever England tours India the English media and fans dub it a low-key series because they know they're going to get their asses kicked whereas whenever India tours England it is hyped to be a big series and if India loses the English commentators make harsh criticisms of the Indian team, often about their poor fielding. Like Ravi said, one gets the feeling that no matter what the BCCI does it's going to be accused of being a bully by British commentators/media. What goes around, comes around. Also, don't even get me started on English football fans. The last time the English football team won a world cup was in 1966 and that was the only time they won it despite inventing the game yet every time a world cup comes around English people act as if they're going to cruise to an easy world cup win. One of the reasons I even watch the football world cup is to see how English fans and commentators react when their over-hyped team gets raped. I've seen British fans rioting when their country or even club team loses. Now you can say India has not even qualified for a world cup despite having 1.2 billion people, which is fair enough, we never have been a sporting nation though we dominate sports like Kabaddi which originated in India (although Kabaddi is nowhere as competitive as football but it's still played by 31 nations, which is way more than the number of teams with test status in Cricket). The reason why I bring this up though is because unlike your Cricket and Football teams our Cricket team has more than justified its hype by winning more world cups and ICC cups than any other cricket team barring Australia.
