Warm up matches for home series

Given that a good number of the current test XI have had very little time in the middle over the last few months, the first match back was always going to be a bit scratchy. Particularly for batsmen who need some time in the middle. Makes Sehwags knock all the more impressive (though I do not know what /how much cricket he has played for Delhi recently) There might have been club level ltd overs games I imagine for guys like Ishant, Tendulkar, Laxman and Yuvraj of late but nothing more intensive than that I expect. Might be wrong on that one though. Comes down to preparation again. There was a lot of talk about warm up matches in England, but maybe today shows that when coming off a break a good workout vs a state side or ideally an A team with players to prove for our senior lot even for home series is called for. Guys who have played a good amount of cricket recently like MSD and Gambhir can always opt out. Im not sure if other teams coming of breaks for home series' do a similar thing.

Dravid gone :(( We will lose the match for sure :(( BCCI should have scheduled the Ranji matches in a way that all the players atleast play a couple of series before coming into a series like this

^ Players coming off injury breaks and having not played for a long time need soime time in the middle by way of practice before going into a test match . With the England series not long ago it was a bit hard to shove in, and you can not plan for injuries and a clutch of guys being out at the same time... so it is not an easy one to call.

:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: Who plays warm up matches for home series? Our bowlers did a good job. If batsman need warm up for home matches, then it has to be worst situation for us.

Sehwag participated in T20 tournament. Dravid is in good form. Sachin never plays warm up matches. Rest were already playing ODI series.

Sehwag and Ishant played T20- as i pointed out, mere club level ltd overs matches and hardly practice for test cricket. Guys who have been playing ODIs need not have played any warm up. Dravid, Laxman, SRT, Ishant, Sehwag, Yuvraj - that is more then half the side who have played very little and most coming off injury and could have done with time in the middle. Of course this is pointless as there was probably no time, even for an informal 3 dayer. Not to mention any possible opponents are playing Ranji cricket. And it is great 2020 hindsight, as a spate of injuries could not have been forseen. Maybe it shows the folly of the scheduling with Eng ODIs not long ago. There must have been a camp of some sort prior to this series and some prep would have taken place could have been played then.
