Trichromatic Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Then came the killer one, that every player gets only 1 opportunity to finish of a game in 4th innings, where Sachin had faltered and Lara did it. I really wanted to tell him how Lara's 4th innings exploits are an eye-wash to prove that Sachin chokes and Lara is the best batsman 4th inning batter of all times. I knew that Sachin had a better 4th innings average than Lara, but was not 100% sure, and since I was arguing with a stats man, I did not want to look stupid. But, I think you made my day :--D You can say tomorrow that Sachin's avg is higher in 4th innings. If he says that avg is higher because of not outs then you can always say that Sachin has been not out 16 times in 4th innings which means he saved the game or won the game for India on many more occasions than what Lara did (only 5). Not outs are more important in 4th innings in finishing games. If he brings back greatest inning 153 argument then quickly say that Lara hasn't done much other than that inning and it is reflected in low number of not outs and don't forget to mention Chennai innings against Pak and that 387 chase against England. :winky:

That's his opinion though. I would turn him from an athiest into a worshipper of the God though.
